*** WEDDING WEDNESDAY ***

Fun fact: The months that see the most wedding's are May-October.

If you're upcoming wedding date falls within those months, it's best to start planning a year to a year and a half before the date. Venues book up extremely quickly within whats known as Wedding Season with some more popular venues being booked out 2+ years in advance.

So if you have your perfect place already in mind, it's best to get that deposit in asap to reserve your date!

A great eggnog recipe to try for the many Holiday parties this season!

It's taken me several years to perfect this recipe. Now everyone asks, 'When are you making the eggnog?!' This uses cooked eggs for safety, and you can use more or less rum to taste.

My very first wedding about 4 years ago. That was a very *eventful* day, but when all was said and done watching this beautiful Bride and Groom become Mr. & Mrs. was the highlight of it all! (Sadly, these are only the setup pics and not the end result.)

CALLING ALL LONG LASTING LOVEBIRDS!!!

We are still looking for our 30 couples to be showcased on our fb and blog as well as the campaigns main page!!!

Nowadays marriage has become a negative or something that people think is as easy to take and leave as it is to change clothes.

All across the media, you see celebrities getting married, divorced, and married again in record speeds...

But we want to highlight the lasting marriages! The couples that have taken those sacred vows seriously and through all the trials and tribulations marriage brings, they thrived together, as a team.

Wedding industry professionals across the country (and possibly internationally) are participating in a campaign to celebrate marriage called the "Decades of Marriage Love" Campaign. How we go about the campaign varies slightly with each business but our mission is the same: combating the media spotlighting of the "10 second fad marriage" and show the world what "till death do you part" really means!

So, do you know of or are you married for a decade or more? We want to hear from you! We want to know your love story and ask that you share your advice on how to make a marriage last. We want people thinking of proposing, newly engaged, just married, or even couples that are hitting those inevitable rough patches to read your words and hopefully show them why taking that plunge, or sticking it out with the person you love is absolutely worth it!!!

For the entire month of April we will be posting one love story per day on our blog and fb page as well as sharing it on the campaigns main page!

JG Weddings & Events will also be conducting a contest to go along with the campaign. People can like and share the stories that really touched them. May 31st is when the contest ends. At which point we will tally up all the likes and shares to each couples story (only likes and shares from JGW&E's fb page and blog will be counted) and the couple with the most likes and shares will be titled "JGW&E's Couple of the Year" and receive a prize to commemorate their love!

No purchase necessary, no fees to enter!

We just want to hear about you and your "Decades of Marriage Love"!!

Go www.facebook.com/jgweddingsevents or email [email protected] with the subject: "DOML campaign submission" to enter. We will send you the short questionnaire to fill out (be sure to attach a favorite picture of you two) and that's it!

** we will post on both our blog and fb page when we have received the 30 submissions. At which time, submissions will be closed **

FUN FACT OF THE DAY

Why are wedding ceremonies ended with a kiss?

In ancient Rome, a kiss was used to solidify a contract (which was what marriage was) So the kiss at the end of the ceremony is signifying the couple "sealing the deal" on their marriage contract

Also with kisses and contracts.. why we text X for kisses is because a lot of ancient Romans were illiterate, so in place of signing their names they would sign with an X and then kiss the X that they marked

NATIONWIDE CASTING CALL!!!!

Marriage is a beautiful thing, but with all the drama, divorce, and downsides you see splashed across the media it's easy to focus on (and get scared of) all the negatives about tying the knot!

We want to change that! We want to show those that are thinking of proposing, those that are engaged, and those that are newly married, just how great it is!

JGW&E is participating in a nationwide campaign to put lasting marriages in the spotlight!! Let's stop focusing on all that drama and showcase the people that have been in it for the long haul- the long lasting unions!!

Interested??

We are looking for 30 phenomenal couples that have been married for a decade or more to be featured on our blog and fb page (1 couple will be featured each day for the month of April)

And it doesn't stop there. JGW&E will also be holding a contest to go along with this campaign! The couple with the most likes and shares to their love story will receive a special prize to remind them of how amazing their union is!!

No fees or purchase necessary to enter the campaign and contest! Just like our fb page then email [email protected] with the subject "DOML campaign entry" and we will send you the questionnaire to fill out! All featured couples are automatically entered into the contest.

For all of you interested in reading all the featured couples stories go to www.Facebook.com/decadesofmarriagelove

***Since April is almost here we will be accepting couples until all 30 slots have been filled. Once we have found our 30 we will announce the casting call closing!***

Lastly, we are participating in a nationwide campaign to highlight lasting marriages! I will be posting up the link, flyer, and info for that today but if you are a couple or know a couple that has been married for 10+ we want to hear from you!

Stay tuned for all the exciting things in the works for JGW&E and also our calendar is filling up for this year but we do still have dates available. So if you have an event or your wedding coming up, email us! We want to be a part of your Big Day!!
