This doesn’t happen often, but we do get freezes! ❄️ If your plants were affected by the hard freeze we just experienced, here are a few helpful tips:

💧• Water your plants thoroughly if you haven’t already.
🌿• For mushy, wet tissue, prune it back to firm, healthy material.

If your plants only have brown or dried foliage or woody tissue, don’t rush to prune just yet. Leaving it in place can actually help protect the plant if more cold weather is on the way.

✂️ When to prune:
Pruning is best done once temperatures begin staying in the 40s or higher, or you can wait until spring when new growth appears. At that point, it’s much easier to see where to prune above a bud or node.

🌴 For tropical plants (such as papaya and banana):
Remove any mushy, wet tissue. If everything appears dry, no action is needed right now — just keep an eye on it. You should see a clear line between living and dead tissue.

⚠️ Be careful not to over-prune!
Dead, brown stems can help protect healthy tissue below if we get another cold snap.

Landscapes across Brevard County may look a little rough until spring arrives — and that’s okay. 🌼 That’s just part of gardening in Florida after a freeze!

🚨Hard FREEZE Alert for Florida❄️❄️❄️ Make sure your heaters are working!! Pipes are the big risk. Buildings in warm climates aren’t designed for prolonged cold. Even a short freeze can cause pipes in exterior walls, shared chases, or unconditioned spaces to freeze and burst.🚨
Condos share systems. Your unit might be fine, but a neighboring vacant unit with no heat can freeze and flood your place.
‼️Two days is enough. It doesn’t take long—just a few hours below freezing can do damage.🌡Set the thermostat to 55–60°F.
That’s warm enough to protect pipes but not expensive to run.✔️ Open cabinet doors under sinks (especially exterior walls). ✔️Shut off the main water supply if you’ll be gone and ✔️If you have a smart thermostat, check in remotely. Beachtown Concierge

🥶❄️ HARD FREEZE ALERT FOR FLORIDA ❄️🥶

A strong Arctic cold front is set to push deep into Florida, bringing widespread teens and 20s up and down the state by early Sunday morning (Feb 1).

📉 What stands out:

-Teens possible across North Florida
-20s reaching well into Central Florida
-Even South Florida dipping into the 30s, with colder inland spots

This will be a significant, state-wide hard freeze, not just a brief cold snap. Sensitive plants, exposed pipes, pets, and those without adequate heat will all be at risk.

⚠️ Now is the time to prepare:
• Protect plants & pipes
• Bring pets indoors
• Check on neighbors

Florida winter is pulling no punches this year. Stay weather aware.
