27 February 2019
Greetings are extended to the University of Zululand student populace.
Please take not of the following developments.
RESUMPTION OF LECTURES
The Univeristy will soon issue out an official notice to all students, alerting them that lectures will resume on the 4th of March 2019 (Monday).
Seeing that a lot of academic time has been lost - students are encouraged to use what is left of the first term sparingly. The Univeristy Senate will device an academic recovery plan for the duration of the first semester.
An investigation, into the alleged violent behaviour and disruption alike, is continuing and the law will take its course.
NSFAS ALLOWANCES
The Department of Higher Education and Training has since rejected the proposal of scrapping the "30km radius rule". This means that the rule will apply in terms of policy.
However, the University has agreed to mediate the situation for the 2019 academic year. The Univeristy will pay out all allowances (R1440 and R1000) in full. These payments will be made to all NSFAS beneficeies - regardless of their home address.
Payments will be made and effected on the 5th of March, and will cover both February and March. Students residing on campus will receive double of their meal allowances, and students residing off campus will receive double of their meal and transport allowances.
OTHER SPONSORS
Students who are beneficeies of other sponsor, such as FUNZA and the likes, will also receive the allowances on the said date - provided that their sponsors have confirmed their sponsorship for the 2019 academic year.
Outstanding book allowances payments will also be paid out on the 5th of March.
Isangomfundi lento.
Regards.
