Teachers spend their entire day supporting others, but who supports them?
We went down the research rabbit hole so you don’t have to.
The verdict?
Every study points to the same conclusion:
People perform better, stay longer in their jobs, and protect their mental health when they have a safe outlet to vent.
Supporting teacher well-being isn’t just a wellness initiative. It’s an investment in retention, productivity, and stronger schools.

Not every complaint belongs in HR.
When employees need to vent, where do they go? Every workplace has it: water cooler chats, passive aggressive emails, and employees who have large emotions. When those emotions have nowhere productive to go, they often end up in two places—office gossip or the HR office. Neither option actually solves the problem, and both can create bigger issues inside a company.
That's where I come in.

HR departments exist to protect the company and maintain organizational structure—but employees often need a space simply to talk things through without fear of consequences. Providing access to an outside professional can help employees regulate emotions, gain perspective, and return to work feeling more focused and productive.

This isn’t therapy and it isn’t internal mediation. It’s a confidential third-party space for employees to process workplace stress constructively.

If you believe your team could benefit from an outlet like this, I would love to connect and discuss how my services could support your workplace!

It felt like time to finally put a face to the name.

I’m Emma—the owner of The Professional Octopus.
This agency was built for people who are creative, capable, a little unconventional, and tired of being told to tone it down to succeed.

With a background in education, career services, PR, teaching, and marketing, I help people grow professionally without losing their personality in the process.

If you’ve ever felt misunderstood at work—or like your creativity didn’t quite “fit”—you’re in the right place.

Follow along, introduce yourself in the comments, or save this for later.

Adult snow days come with guilt.
Not because you’re doing something wrong, but because most adults aren’t taught how to rest without earning it.

If you’re home today feeling uneasy, unproductive, or weirdly on edge, that’s not laziness.
That’s a nervous system finally slowing down.

A snow day doesn’t have to be wasted or overworked.
It can be a pause. A check-in. A moment to notice how work has really been feeling lately.

You don’t need answers today.
Awareness is enough, but we are here when you are ready to talk.

While many of us are sheltering in place, first responders are stepping into danger so others can stay safe.

We see you.
We appreciate you.
And we know this work can be isolating.

If you’re a first responder affected by this storm, I’m offering a free, confidential professional venting session—a space to talk without pressure, guilt, or judgment.

Message me STORM for your free session code.

Stay safe. You matter. Thank you for everything you do!

A leadership reminder:

Safety isn’t an exception.
It’s part of the culture.

Flexibility today builds loyalty tomorrow.

01/24/2026

You don’t have to earn the right to be safe. Safety is a reasonable boundary.

If weather conditions are dangerous, staying home isn’t unprofessional—
it’s responsible.

Your life is more important than attendance optics.

Safety > productivity

With storms like this, a lot of employees feel caught between safety and expectations.

Here’s the truth:
No commute is worth an accident.
No job is worth risking your life.

If you can work remotely or flex your hours—asking isn’t unprofessional.
It’s responsible.

Save this if you needed permission to choose safety today.
