BREAKING: The Senate has amended the Electoral Act, modifying Clause 60 to require presiding officers at each polling unit to electronically transmit election results to the IREV portal.

-However, if electronic transmission fails due to communication or network issues, the manual result sheet (Form EC8A) will serve as the primary source for result collation.

-Meanwhile, protesters outside the National Assembly insist there should be no dual system of electronic and manual modes.

-They are insisting that if election results cannot be transmitted in real time, the affected polling unit should be cancelled and the election re-conducted the next day.

Alex Otti has taken legal action against the Nigerian government at the World Court over its refusal to approve a proposed cargo airport in Aba, Abia State.

The Abia State Governor argued that the federal government’s decision to withhold approval for the project violates Nigerian law and amounts to deliberate marginalization of the South-East region.

In his petition, Otti also claimed that many Igbos face insecurity and discrimination in Lagos. He said the lack of a seaport or cargo airport in the South-East forces many Igbos to remain in Lagos for business and economic survival.

I have traveled to Nigeria and engaged in multiple high-level meetings with Nigerian officials, the Church, aid groups across the country, and IDPs, to get a better understanding of the rampant pers€ cution of Christians in Nigeria.

In my discussions, the idea of div!ding the country has not come up in any serious way. Efforts to embolden sepa'ratists hûrts Christians in Nigeria - especially in the North and Middle Belt.

A destabilized Nigeria would embolden terr×rists and make Christians less safe in Nigeria and across the continent.

I remain committed to working to save the lives of our brothers and sisters in Christ - and for that matter, all Nigerians - suff×ring from the instability wrought by teπorists throughout Nigeria.

The US and Nigeria have just entered into a security cooperation agreement, and that is an important step in tackling the viol€nce in Nigeria and deepening and strengthening the bilateral relationship between our great nations.
