We became aware today that THC edibles, often called “space cookies,” are being bought to local schools by leaners. These can look like normal cookies but may cause serious health effects in children.
We are handling this with the students involved and their families per school policy.
How Parents Can Help
1. Talk to your child tonight- Explain that some cookies or sweets can have drugs in them and look normal. Tell them never to eat food from friends if they don’t know where it came from.
2. Know the signs - If a child eats THC they may seem very sleepy, confused, anxious, giggly for no reason, vomit, or have red eyes. Effects can take 1-2 hours to show up.
3. Check backpacks/lunchboxes - Remind your child the school has a no-sharing-food rule for safety.
4. Report concerns- If your child saw something or was offered an edible, encourage them to tell you or a teacher. You can contact the office privately at.
5. Act fast if worried- If you think your child ate an edible, don’t wait. Take them to the nearest clinic or Health center.
Thank you.
