Social Worker – Child & Youth Support
Location: Cape Town, Western Cape
Contract Type: Fixed-Term

Key Duties and Responsibilities
Provide individual and family-based psychosocial support, counselling, and crisis intervention.
Conduct assessments, home visits, and appropriate family interventions.
Identify risks and vulnerabilities and implement suitable intervention and support plans.
Assist with the implementation of child protection and safeguarding measures in accordance with applicable legislation and organisational policies.
Work collaboratively with schools, healthcare professionals, community organisations, government departments, and other relevant stakeholders.
Make and follow up on referrals to appropriate support and specialist services.
Keep comprehensive, accurate, and confidential case files and records in accordance with POPIA and professional requirements.
Participate in outreach programmes, awareness initiatives, and educational activities focused on child protection and wellbeing.
Monitor and report on client progress and interventions as required.
Maintain professional boundaries and uphold the ethical standards of the social work profession.

Minimum Requirements
Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) or equivalent recognised qualification.
Current registration with the South African Council for Social Service Professions (SACSSP), with proof of good standing.
At least 6 months relevant experience working with children, youth, and/or families.
Practical knowledge of child protection legislation, including the Children's Act and Child Justice Act.
Strong assessment, counselling, case-management, and report-writing skills.
Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities.
Ability to work sensitively with vulnerable children and families.
Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
A valid code 8 driver's licence

Language Skills
As our work involves engaging directly with children, families, and community stakeholders across Cape Town, proficiency in Afrikaans will be an advantage. This is intended to support effective communication and culturally responsive service delivery within the communities we serve.
