Inspect and repair seals, joints and flashings
Check for cracked or missing tiles and replace them.
Patch up your flashings, chimneys, skylights and vents.
Check and maintain windows and doors to avoid water ingress.
Tiled or slate roofs are prone to cracks and slippages, and these must be repaired to avoid roof leaks and damage to your home’s interior
Ensure that ridge tiles are secured and that any cracked or missing ridge tiles are replaced and waterproofed.
As temperatures rise and fall, metal roofs expand and contract, loosening screws and washers. These will need to be replaced at least twice a year, while joints and laps between roof sheets need to be resealed for protection against rust.
Clear away dry leaves as often as you can to avoid any unwanted fires. Dry gardens usually pose a high risk.
Thatched roofs will need to be brushed or combed several times during their lifespan to prolong the life of the thatch.
