NYDA Entrepreneurship Development Programme Training
The National Youth Development Agency (NYDA) hosted an Entrepreneurship Development Programme (EDP) training at the Botshabelo Digital Hub from 16–20 February 2026.
The training focused on business management, equipping participants with practical skills to develop viable business ideas and compile comprehensive business plans. Participants were guided through the fundamentals of entrepreneurship, from ideation to planning and implementation.
The programme was based on the Start and Improve Your Business (SIYB) methodology, a globally recognised management training programme developed by the International Labour Organisation (ILO). SIYB aims to support the creation of more and better employment opportunities for women and youth, particularly in emerging economies, by promoting sustainable small businesses.
Through this training, participants were able to:
-Develop detailed and realistic business plans
-Test their entrepreneurial skills in a simulated and safe learning environment
-Gain practical insights into market dynamics and business sustainability
The Start Your Business (SYB) training course is delivered over five days using the SYB manual and business plan booklet. It follows an active, problem-centred learning approach that builds on participants’ existing knowledge while introducing new concepts through case studies, illustrations, and practical exercises.
