Visited Silverstrome just below the Barrage on the Vaal River with Les James last week and had a magic day out. The water was low and relatively clear and lots of fish were visible. Large carp I'm the shallows, with yellowfish, mudfish and barbel. There was no spawning activity visible but our approach still focused on fishing knee to waste deep water below the rapids. The fish were pretty skittish in the shallows but we're a little more open to take flies in the deeper water. We lost a lot of fish during a mixed morning and afternoon session but as usual the fishing picked up later in the afternoon. Small caddis and mayfly patterns were the order of the day. Also focussing on fishing tight line Czech Nymphing methods and experimenting with some new ideas. All in all a magic day out with 2 yellowfish, 3 mudfish and a decent 3 kilo barbel coming to the net.

Had an excellent couple of days away in the Dullstroom area doing some venue visits and research for luxury accommodation for our corporate fly fishing getaways. We are pleased to say we have found a gem. Also visited Komati Gorge Lodge where we managed to catch some great Rainbow Trout. A big thanks to the team at Komati Gorge for their excellent service and hospitality.

Time is just flying! Can't believe that it is almost two years ago that we last visited the Okavango Delta. Catching Tigerfish on fly is something that everyone with an adventurous side and a passion for fly fishing should experience. Have some excellent corporate fly fishing ideas developing in my mind. Watch this space.....
