16 June 1976 - The day that marked the end of submissiveness and South African youths shook the world!
Around 20 000 high school students took to the streets to protest against the apartheid regime's education policies; known as the Soweto Uprising! Over 176 students lost their lives for a cause; over 4 000 students were injured because they no longer remained silent; and because of it, this fight contributed greatly to the end of apartheid!

The famous photo of a teenager carrying the limp body of Hector Pieterson, a 12-year-old South African boy, screaming in agony as they run alongside his sister, would ricochet across the world, changing the course of South African history!

We might not remember all of their names, but we will remember what they did so that we wouldn't have to go through what they did — what will our generation be remembered for?
