🔹 🔹 Disease is no longer the biggest obstacle facing modern medicine.🔹 🔹

Access is. The question is: "Can Science cure disease without creating inequality?"

In this episode of The Enhanced Pod, Professor Michael Pepper explains why cures for cancer, gene editing and personalised medicine are advancing faster than most people realise—but also why millions of people may never benefit from them.

We investigate:

🔬 Why African genomes remain dramatically underrepresented in medical research

🔬 Whether AI can replace clinical trials

🔬 The promise—and dangers—of CRISPR gene editing

🔬 Why curing HIV is scientifically possible but economically difficult

🔬 How misinformation has become one of science's greatest threats

🔬 The ethical line between treating disease and enhancing humans

This isn't simply a conversation about medicine.

🔹 It's about who gets included in the future.🔹

🔹 Ramaphosa vows South African support for DRC as Ebola outbreak continues 🔹

"... Three immediate priorities

Cyril Ramaphosa identified three immediate priorities for the Ebola response. First, he said it was critical to accelerate conversion of financial pledges into practical support, including funding, technical assistance and delivery of medical countermeasures to affected areas.

Second, he called for a ceasefire to enable humanitarian access, so healthcare workers, aid agencies and medical supplies could reach communities safely, and urged communities to protect frontline responders from intimidation, stigma and violence. He said:

“Healthcare workers must never face fear, stigma or violence while serving our people.”

Third, Ramaphosa reaffirmed South Africa’s commitment to strengthening local vaccine manufacturing, confirming that South African biotechnology company Afrigen Biologics (Pty) Ltd continues to support efforts to develop a vaccine targeting the Bundibugyo strain responsible for the current outbreak..."

🔹 Kenya's Vaccine Manufacturing Push Signals a New Chapter for Africa's Health Sovereignty 🔹

"Earlier this year, Kenya joined the World Health Organization (WHO) and Medicines Patent Pool (MPP) mRNA Technology Transfer Programme, becoming one of six African countries selected to participate in the initiative.

The programme enables participating countries to acquire the technical knowledge required to manufacture hashtag vaccines for routine immunisation, malaria, tuberculosis and future pandemic preparedness."
