Our client is looking for a skilled technical engineer to remotely deliver senior 3rd line support and project services to multiple international customers, in line with contractual SLAs and KPIs.

• Provide third line incident management (diagnosis, investigation, resolution), as well as technical project implementation services to our client’s customers.

Power Engineer
Location - Cape Town with frequent travel to 3 renewable energy power plant sites; occasional international travel

Main Purpose of Role
Our Client is an experienced international power plant owner and operator in South Africa, Our client owns and operates three renewable energy (RE) power plants: a 138 MW wind farm
in Jeffreys Bay and two 50MW solar photovoltaic plants in Kimberley and De Aar. These projects emanate from government’s REI4P programme and are among the first and largest RE plants to be constructed in the country. The Power Engineer will be responsible for the implementation and oversight of the General Machinery Regulations (GMR) at the existing as well as new South Africa Management Services assets. Furthermore, the role will interface with business development in an advisory capacity. The role will require routine travel for onsite activities. Applicants should be aware of the possibility of between 25% and 50% of working days’ ongoing travel requirement.

Main Responsibilities (this list is not exhaustive)
1. General Machinery Regulations
1.1 Act as Supervisor of Machinery
1.2 Define policy and guidelines in accordance with General Machinery Regulations
1.3 Define training standards for operators and supervisors of machinery
1.4 Training of switching operators and officers
1.5 Assist GMR 2.7 (assistant supervisors) in compiling plant specific safety regulations
1.6 Ensure compliance to General Machinery and plant safety regulations is maintained
1.7 Act as back up switching supervisor in the absence of plant GMR 2.7

2. Provide technical consulting to the business development department
2.1 Compile key primary and/or secondary plant specifications
2.2 Compile key primary and/or secondary plant design standards
2.3 Compile technical employer’s requirements

3. Capital Projects
3.1 Manage GSAMS’ capital projects from conceptual through to commissioned stage
And any other duties, as assigned, by Engineering Manager, in line with the role.


Skills / Competencies
1. Systems view in implementing electrical safety programs
2. Experience in designing and implementing plant safety regulations
3. Deep experience in electrical switching activities
4. Experience in electrical safety training including Operating Regulations for High Voltage Systems (ORHVS)
5. Experience in implementing NFPA 70E and/or IEEE 1584 standards
6. Experience in implementing a distributed switching processes
7. Working knowledge of computerised maintenance management systems
8. Ability to read and understand schematics
9. Knowledge of primary and secondary plant testing would be an advantage
10. Very good MS Word and MS Excel skills; exposure to MS project (or similar) and MS PowerPoint would be an advantage
11. Competent in all communications including clear, concise e-mails; report writing and presentation skills
12. Able to manage stress and high-pressure situations
13. Must be a self-starter and able to work independently
14. Good team player; able to balance team and individual responsibilities.
15. Able to handle multiple projects, prioritise work and work effectively under limited supervision

Experience, Knowledge & Qualifications
1. Minimum B.Sc Eng/B.Eng in Electrical Engineering or NQF equivalent
2. Government Certificated Engineer (GCC Factories) is mandatory
3. ECSA professional certificated engineer is a preference
4. Minimum of five years’ experience in design, maintenance and operation of power systems
5. Demonstrated experience in LV, MV and HV electrical systems
6. Experience in wind and photovoltaic plants would be an advantage

Health, Safety, Environment and Quality Officer (HSE&Q Officer)

Location - Kimberley, South Africa (Perm); Jeffrey’s Bay (2 year Contract)

Main Purpose of Role
The HSE&Q Officer acts as the first point of contact for all HSE&Q-related matters for the Droogfontein Solar Power plant. The primary function of the Health, Safety and Environment and Quality Officer (HSE&Q Officer) is to implement the HSE&Q Management system on the solar PV plant, in order to achieve and maintain a safe and healthy working environment. The secondary function of the HSE&Q Officer is to maintain and implement the Quality Assurance program of the plant.

Main Responsibilities (this list is not exhaustive)
HSE
1. Implement and monitor all HSE management systems on site, including, but not limited to HSE guidelines, objectives and practices.
2. Schedule and execute audits on site to identify areas of improvement and implement measures as required.
3. Carry out risk assessments on a continuous basis on site.
4. Provide HSE training, awareness and induction on site to staff, contractors and other relevant parties.
5. Engage with staff, contractors and other relevant parties with respect to HSE matters related to the site.
6. Keep HSE statistical records, such as incidents, accidents, near-misses and working hours on site.
7. Keep HSE registers up to date, including renewals of permits, licenses, etc.
8. Compile monthly site HSE reports.
9. Have first line responsibility for incident investigations, including but not limited to investigating, making initial recommendations and putting measures in place to prevent reoccurrence.
10. Assist Plant Manager to implement accident-prevention and environmental impact activities on site.
11. Implement emergency and crisis management plans on site.
12. Act as Emergency coordinator on site.
13. Implement Environmental Management Plans of the site.
14. Monitor environmental footprint on site.
15. Other duties as assigned by the Plant Manager / HSE&Q Manager.
Quality Management
1. Administer and maintain non-conformance and suggestion systems, including Corrective and Preventative Action Requests (CPAR), Non-conformance Report, (NCR) and Field Performance Report (FPR) systems.
2. Ensure quality requirements are met by both internal and external audit, review of inspection reports and analysis of non-conformance reporting.
3. Monitor vendor/contractor performance and ensure only appropriate vendors/contractors are utilized.
4. Ensure quality plans are produced when required and meet requirements.
5. Ensure internal quality standards are maintained and monitored.
6. Other QM-related duties as assigned by the HSE&Q Manager.

Skills / Competencies
1. Up-to-date knowledge of relevant HSE legislation (OHS Act and Regulations, NEMA, COIDA, etc.), environmental regulations and plant safety procedures
2. High levels of organisational commitment and responsiveness; able and willing to align his/her own behaviour and actions with the needs, priorities and goals of the organisation
3. Highly effective verbal communication skills, including influencing without depending on positional authority
4. Very good written communication skills; clear expression of ideas or information

Senior Analyst Impairment:

MAIN PURPOSE
To perform data analysis, forecasting, reporting and analysis of key performance drivers of impairment in order to deliver against financial commitments. Ensure the continuous improvement of the impairment modelling methodology and forecasting techniques applied, and compliance with credit policy and regulatory requirements. Identify impairment risks and opportunities and drive resolution.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION
- University degree in Business, Mathematics, Statistics, Accounting, Economics, Risk Management or equivalent industry training and experience.
- CA (SA) would be advantageous.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
- Preferably 3-5 years’ Portfolio or Credit Risk Analyst or Senior Analyst experience, performing data analysis utilizing a standard statistical package such as SAS or SQL.
- Alternatively, CA (SA) candidates should have experience within the Retail Financial Services or Banking industry.
- Practical experience in using analytics to solve complex business problems would be advantageous.
- Experience in working with various data sets as well as ability to establish data integrity and relationships.
- Experience in working in an outsourced environment and effectively implementing solutions using both internal and external resources.
- Experience in SAS (intermediate or advanced) programming or equivalent structured language analytical software for statistical analysis and manipulation of very large data sets.
