Africa Day 2025 | Looking at Africa Through the Lens of a Thriving Digital Economy.
Today, we honour Africas journey, its strength, and its shared vision for a digitally empowered future. As we stand on the shoulders of innovators, creators, and visionaries across the continent, we see one truth clearly: Africa is not the future Africa is now.
1. Tech Infrastructure is laying the foundation: from data centres in Nairobi to fibre networks stretching from Cape Town to Cairo.
2. Tech Skills are the new currency: with over 11 million African youth entering the workforce annually, digital upskilling isnt an option; its an economic necessity.
3. AFCFTA is unlocking a $3.4 trillion market: enabling borderless digital trade, pan-African fintech, and scalable innovation from Lagos to Lusaka.
4. Data doesnt lie: Africas digital economy is projected to hit $712 billion by 2050. A United Africa has the power to lead in AI, blockchain, smart agriculture, and green energy.
5. MSMEs employ over 80% of Africas workforce: Digitally empowering them means jobs, innovation, and economic freedom.
6. The public and private sector: must co-invest in infrastructure, digital literacy, policy frameworks, and inclusion no one can build a digital Africa alone.
7. Collaboration is our greatest strength: From startup hubs in Kigali to AI labs in Accra we rise when we build together.
Above all, we call for a United African Digital State borderless, secure, and sovereign a continental power that commands its data, its innovation, and its destiny.
Happy Africa Day!
