ABOUT THE ROLE
Perfect Laser Technologies is looking for a driven, technically minded and resilient Technical Sales Representative to join our Durban branch.
The successful candidate will be responsible for technical sales, new business development and managing existing customers, from initial enquiry through to closing and handover. The role combines hands-on technical work with sales, and the successful candidate will be expected to develop a strong understanding of our machinery and products.
This is a sales-driven technical role. You will be required to learn how our machines operate, understand their applications and capabilities, conduct product demonstrations, assist customers with technical queries and, with training and experience, provide technical support when required. You must therefore be comfortable working with machinery, learning technical products and getting hands-on with equipment, while still being highly focused on achieving sales targets.
Experience with CO₂ laser machines, fibre engravers, fibre cutters, CNC machines, printers or similar technical equipment will be highly advantageous.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
-Identify, develop and close new business opportunities.
-Manage the full sales cycle from lead generation to handover.
-Build and maintain strong customer relationships.
-Conduct product demonstrations and presentations.
-Learn and develop strong knowledge of the Company’s machinery and products.
-Understand customer requirements and recommend suitable solutions.
-Prepare quotations and proposals.
-Travel to customer sites, trade shows and demonstrations.
-Transport and set up demonstration equipment, including towing a trailer where required.
-Assist with online sales, website product information and e-commerce activities.
-Work with the Marketing/ SEO team on product promotions and social media campaigns.
-Achieve agreed sales targets and performance objectives.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
-Matric / Grade 12 – essential.
-Previous work experience – candidates with no work experience will not be considered.
-Previous sales experience is essential.
-Experience in a target-driven or commission-based sales environment is highly advantageous.
-Technical, IT, machinery, printing or related experience will be advantageous.
-Experience with online or e-commerce sales will be advantageous.
-Valid South African driver’s licence – essential.
-Due to the requirements of the position, candidates should reside within approximately 15 km of the Pinetown branch.
