OPC PRANK TIME 😂🔊🐇

The team secretly hid a speaker in Andriette’s office and played music remotely!

Because working hard and having fun can go hand in hand!

GETTING THE DETAIL RIGHT

Most of the technical questions we get at Outeniqua Peak Consulting sound simple. Is the calculation right? Was the process followed? Can Council approve it? The answer usually sits in the detail.

In the last few months we’ve worked on remuneration, financial reporting, performance management, internal audit and regulatory questions for some of our municipal clients. Across all of them, the problems were rarely in the obvious places. They sat in an assumption nobody questioned, a section of legislation read too quickly, or a recommendation that looked good on paper but that nobody could actually implement.

There’s no shortcut, and honestly, this is where it gets interesting. You pull the original source, rework the numbers from scratch and test whether the conclusion holds up for that specific municipality. More often than you’d expect, something small shifts the whole answer. Finding it takes longer, but that’s what makes advice worth relying on.

That’s also the part of the work we enjoy most: finding the detail that changes the answer, and getting to a conclusion someone can actually rely on.
