“Day Before a 2-Day Stock Take” communication, make the focus very clear: freeze, clean, verify, and prepare — no surprises tomorrow.

DAY BEFORE STOCK TAKE — FINAL PREPARATION

The stock take starts tomorrow. Today is about getting everything ready for an accurate, controlled and successful count.

1. Clear the floors

* All received stock must be put away in the correct bins/racks.
* No loose stock should remain in receiving/production release areas.
* No unnecessary stock should be staged on the floor.

2. Complete all picking

* Complete as much pre-picking as possible before the stock-take cut-off.
* Clearly identify any stock that has been picked but not yet loaded.
* No unidentified or unallocated stock should be left standing.

3. Check interim/temporary bins

* Verify every interim bin.
* Ensure stock is physically present where the system says it should be.
* Resolve discrepancies before counting starts.

4. Close all movements

* Ensure all GRVs, transfers, issues, returns and adjustments are processed.
* Confirm that there are no outstanding transactions that could affect the count.

5. Clean and organise

* Ensure aisles and counting areas are accessible.
* Labels/barcodes must be visible.
* Remove empty pallets, rubbish and obstacles.
* Ensure stock is safely and neatly stacked.

6. Supervisor final checks
Each Supervisor must physically walk their area and confirm:

“If it is on the system, we can find it physically — and if it is physically there, it is correctly reflected on the system.”

FROM CUT-OFF — CONTROL THE MOVEMENT

Once the stock-take cut-off is reached:

NO UNAUTHORISED STOCK MOVEMENT.

Any movement that is absolutely necessary must be controlled, documented and communicated to the stock-take team.

THE GOAL

Day 1: Count accurately.
Day 2: Complete outstanding areas and resolve discrepancies.
Final result:A clean, accurate and accountable stock position.

Tomorrow is not the day to prepare for the stock take.
Tomorrow is the day to COUNT.

Sunday Start: Stock Take Success Starts Before the Count

Sunday is not just the start of another week. This is the week where we set the warehouse up for a successful month-end stock take.

Before the stock take team arrives, the groundwork must already be done.

🔹Pre-picking must be accurate and planned properly to ensure the week flows without creating bottlenecks at loading.
🔹Clear the warehouse floors and eliminate unnecessary stock sitting in staging areas.
🔹Ensure every pallet is put away correctly into the correct bin or rack.
🔹Clean up interim and unidentified locations.
🔹Resolve discrepancies and outstanding movements before stock take.
🔹Make sure system stock and physical stock are aligned as far as possible.

Who is responsible?

Supervisors:
Need to drive the daily ex*****on — ensuring teams are picking, loading, putting away and maintaining discipline on the floor.

Operations Managers:
Need to ensure the operation flows, priorities are clear, bottlenecks are removed and the warehouse is ready for month-end.

Inventory Managers:
Need to drive stock accuracy, investigate discrepancies, ensure movements are captured correctly and coordinate the stock take preparation.

And most importantly, everyone needs to understand that stock take preparation is not an Inventory-only responsibility.

Stock Take Preparation > The Actual Count

A successful stock take is not created on the day of the count.

It is created days and weeks beforehand.

If the warehouse is full of unallocated stock, pallets are sitting on the floor, movements have not been captured, bins are incorrect and discrepancies are unresolved, expecting a good stock take result is unrealistic.

The quality of the count can only be as good as the preparation behind it.

So, as we start this Sunday:

Start correctly. Pick correctly. Put away correctly. Control the floor. Fix the discrepancies. Prepare properly.

Because when stock take day arrives, the count should confirm the accuracy of the warehouse — not be the day we discover the problems.

Good stock take results are prepared, not achieved by luck.

Some people call it manifestation.
I call it speaking things into existence and putting in the work to make it real.

On 31 January 2022, BILD Consultants was just a thought saved in my phone calendar.

A name.
A vision.
A dream.

At the time, BILD carried a personal meaning:

B – my dad’s initial
IL – my initials
D – my mom’s initial

Then the vision evolved into something greater:

Building
Intelligence through
Learning and
Development

What was once only words became a registered business on 13 April 2024.

What was once only a vision became reality on 14 April 2025 when I was honoured to officially begin warehouse consulting.

Today, a year later, I am still privileged to support the same business on the inventory side of the warehouse.

This journey reminds me that words are powerful — especially when they are backed by discipline, consistency, faith, and action.

Speaking things into existence is not only about saying it.
It is about believing it, preparing for it, and working until it becomes your reality. Research on goal-setting and manifestation consistently points to the value of intention combined with concrete action.

This past year has been filled with growth, amazing opportunities, and a committed inventory team that continues to strive for excellence.

I remain grateful to lead a team that achieved the lowest stock variance ever recorded during the March month-end count.

Proof that when vision meets teamwork and ex*****on, extraordinary results happen.
