CSX signs a distribution contract with Alaris, a Kodak Alaris business.

US-based information capture solutions provider Kodak Alaris has signed a distribution agreement deal with local distributor CSX Customer Service. According to the companies, the deal will enable the availability of Alaris products in Southern Africa. CSX will be responsible for the distribution of the information capture solutions products in Southern Africa, including scanners and capture software, information management solutions as well as professional services and support.

Samer Mihyar, regional marketing manager of Middle East and Africa for Alaris, says together with CSX, Alaris is looking to capture a big part of the South African market production capture space, which is worth $10 million.
The massive demand in the region for document imaging and information capture solutions across several verticals is what prompted the partnership between Alaris and CSX, says Naji Kazak, regional general manager for Alaris.
"Our partnership is built on complete understanding and alignment with the Alaris IN2 Ecosystem, designed to remove complexity from information capture to drive business efficiency and growth."
Government remains the top vertical in Southern Africa for Alaris, says Mihyar. But the company is seeing opportunities in the financial, legal and accounting application sector, as well as mining education healthcare and insurance, he adds.
"Alaris is looking at helping organisations and government entities digitise their paperwork at the point of entry to make sure all relevant information is captured at the right time."
The deal will help us to expand both in SA and Southern Africa, says Mihyar. "CSX has the vast distribution experience that will allow us to expand our channel."
"We have been partners with Kodak Alaris in one form or another for more than four decades," says Mario Martins, MD of CSX Customer Services.
"We are proud and honoured to have been chosen as the African distribution partner of choice. From the original analogue microfilm formats to the digital image formats and ultimately to the full document imaging solutions that Alaris now offers, we will continue delivering the same excellent sales and service solutions that prompted the partnership."

Seventh modular library set to be donated to a Primary School in Mpumalanga

“Reading is important, because if you can read, you can learn anything about everything and everything about anything.” – Tomie dePaola

Four years since the pilot modular library was constructed by CSX Customer Services, a group company of JSE-listed Metrofile Holdings Limited, in collaboration with South African charity group, SHOUT for a safer South Africa, take great pride in announcing that they will be donating their seventh modular, fully serviced library which will be located at Bushbuckridge Primary School in Mpumalanga. Managing Director of CSX Customer Services, Mario Martins says that this initiative is a result of the dire need for improved literacy and education within South Africa. By providing these modular libraries, Martins says that CSX Customer Services greatly assists children to learn and expand their imaginations. Previous libraries include Tembisa, Harrismith, Soshanguve and plans for one in Motherwell in the Eastern Cape are underway.
“A percentage of the CSX business is focused on providing education sector solutions both locally and in Sub-Saharan Africa, making our role in the library project a significant and strategic one. Many children are known to walk as far as 6km to gain access to a library and we hope that in providing these modular libraries, the time saved walking such far distances will result in an environment that is safe, conducive to more reading and provide better learning experiences. Education and imagination are key in the development of the minds of our young people”.
“These modular libraries are constructed from chromadex materials and are designed to last up to fifty years, requiring very little maintenance. CSX has fully equipped these libraries, including children’s furniture to create a fun and secure environment. The libraries are each equipped with an estimated 10 000 books that are specifically selected by Breadline Africa and have appointed librarians to run the facilities. Each library is conveniently situated in well-lit areas and are typically in safe communal areas. To date the feedback has been exceptionally favourable with many children choosing to spend their afternoons reading,” says Martins
CSX is passionately inspired by the opportunity to assist in the education of our young people and are very proud to “give back” to communities in need. They remain committed to supply as many modular libraries as possible in hope of significantly assisting the education of the less fortunate in South African and surrounding countries.

CSX Customer Serivices is proud to have been part of the annual K.i.D.S Blanket Run of the Harley Owners Group on Sunday the 20th of May 2018. This was a heartwarming example of the hands-on charity projects untertaken by H.O.G Chapters.

It all started with a group of Chapter members just over 10 years ago. Rather than passively discussing the bitterly cold Highveld winter, they motivated members to get together some blankets and went onto the inner city streets of Johannesburg and delivered them to the people who needed them most.

The next year many more Chapter members asked to join the group and by the third year, the ride and support was substantial enough that the first official Kids in Dire Straits (K.i.D.S) blanket run was organised.

It has developed into an event for all bikers and is supported by every H.O.G Chapter, riding associations and many MC's with loads of everyday riders joining in. In Gauteng, the local H.O.G. Chapters support extends to not only the member joining the ride and donating blankets, but with the joint effort of the five Chapters marshal teams to marshal the events which draw over 1400 motorcycles for a mass ride event forcussed purely on collecting blankets for the needy.
