The implementation and maintenance of Occupational Health and Safety systems were privatized in 1993. Prior to this date the governing body was subsidized by the State and the only organization which could audit and allocate ratings to companies in terms of the percentage compliance with legislation. In May 1993 Mr Colin Jones, a previous deputy Chief Inspector of the Department of Labour and Mr J
J Strydom, a Health and Safety consultant with 25 years practical experience in the field, established the company called Technilaw South Africa. The documentation was designed to be user friendly and in contrast with other similar enterprises could be maintained by the employees themselves and a permanent Health and Safety Officer was not needed to maintain it. The training material was registered with the Department of Education and a FET (Further Education and Training) facility registered. The Department of Labour approved Technilaw as a Service Provider and copy right on all documentation was registered. The system documentation is based on practical experience in the field and is therefore “hands on”, easy to maintain, minimum paperwork and legal compliance only. Technilaw is actively involved in assisting both corporate companies and smaller enterprises with their legal requirements for Occupational Health and Safety for 20 years. Technilaw supplies safety services in South Africa and Africa. We develop compliance systems based on African country’s legislation, implement and maintain systems. Training material is adapted to foreign legislation as needed for these countries. We deliver services in all Provinces in South Africa, in DRC, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Lesotho, Botswana, Swaziland, Mozambique, Malawi and Namibia.
• The Technilaw Legal Compliance Safety System is solely based on Legal Compliance in terms of the OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH AND SAFETY ACT AND REGULATIONS, Act 85 of 1993, which came into effect and had to be enforced since 1994;
• The Technilaw Safety System contains the minimum amount of documentation and only documents required in the above Act are kept, thus making it an administratively easy task for employees without “window dressing” and time friendly:
• The Technilaw Legal Compliance Safety System and all the courses conducted by them, are approved and accredited by SETA.
• A very important aspect of Technilaw is that not only are we accredited to assist you with your Safety System but do your Star grading if required and can do all the courses needed to train your employees in Safety matters as prescribed in the Act. It therefore means that employers do not have to “shop” around to comply with the Act but have all their needs met by one company. [email protected] / 0835646663
