Modelling is art and storytelling. And I want my story to be about economic empowerment.

When we think “fashion,” we picture big cities. But what about our rural areas? Our communities get left behind. We have talent. We have artisans, farmers, and creators building our economy from the ground up. We just lack opportunities.

I want to use my voice to change that. To put rural development on the runway. To spotlight the hidden creators, the local businesses, the hands that make things happen.

I want to prove that your zip code shouldn’t decide your opportunities.

Ladies and gentlemen, welcome Mpilonhle Mgiba.

She didn’t come here just for a crown. She came with a mission. A daughter of Mpumalanga proving that quiet roots can create loud impact.

Mpilonhle stands on 3 promises: Growing through education, Guardianmental health, and Guiding the next generation because she refuses to let broken homes, anxiety, or self-doubt define anyone’s future.

If crowned Miss Calcutta Mpumalanga 2026, she’s taking her crown off the stage and into communities. Through “Grow Talks” in schools, “Guard Sessions” for mental wellness, and “Guide Circles” where young people find direction and hope.

She doesn’t just walk the runway. She walks for every teen still finding their path.

Bullying can have a serious impact on a person’s life. It can damage self-confidence, hurt feelings, and leave emotional scars that last for a long time. No one deserves to feel afraid, excluded, or judged because of who they are. Every person should be treated with kindness, respect, and understanding.

I strongly believe that we all have a role to play in stopping bullying. Sometimes, even small actions like standing up for someone, offering support, or choosing kind words can make a big difference. Creating a positive environment starts with each of us making the choice to treat others the way we would like to be treated.

As an advocate against bullying, I support building safe and welcoming spaces where everyone feels accepted, valued, and heard. Whether at school, in the workplace, online, or in our communities, we should encourage inclusion and respect for all people. When we choose compassion instead of cruelty, we help create a culture where everyone can thrive and feel confident being themselves.

Together, we can raise awareness, support those who are affected by bullying, and inspire positive change. By working together and showing empathy, we can make our communities stronger, safer, and more caring places for everyone.

Onica is a woman of resilience, voice, and vision. She walks into this competition not only to be seen, but to be heard. Her purpose is clear and courageous: to stand against gender-based violence.

Onica believes that silence gives violence power. So she has chosen to speak up, to educate, and to create safe spaces for survivors and for communities. Her advocacy is built on 3 pillars: SPEAK through education, SUPPORT through safe referral networks, and SHINE by helping survivors reclaim their stories and strength.

If crowned Miss Calcutta Mpumalanga 2026, Onica commits to turning advocacy into action - through community dialogues, school outreach programs, and “Shine Boxes” of care and resources for those in need.

With resilience in her heart and purpose in her stride, she does not just walk the stage... she walks a mission.

It is with great honor and pride that I welcome each of you to this prestigious platform. You have earned your place here through resilience, discipline, and an unwavering belief in your potential. Out of many, you were chosen - not only for your beauty, but for your character, your vision, and your commitment to represent something greater than yourself.

Miss Calcutta Mpumalanga is more than a pageant. It is a leadership journey. Over the coming weeks, you will be challenged, you will grow, and you will discover strengths you never knew you had. Our goal as directors and coaches is not simply to prepare you for a crown, but to prepare you for life - as ambassadors, as role models, and as women of impact in our community.
