Join us on Thursday or Friday, for a ReCha Information Session where we’ll take you through what ReCha is, how the programme works, what you need to sign up, and what will be expected of you if you become a Recycling Champion.

Recycling Champions is a programme designed to empower unemployed youth to become micro-entrepreneurial recyclers, turning waste into opportunity while contributing to cleaner, more sustainable communities. 🌍💚

During the session, you’ll learn more about:

♻️ What ReCha is and how it works
📋 The sign-up process and requirements
🎓 The training you’ll receive
💼 What it means to operate as a ReCha
📊 Waste collection, management and financial processes
🦺 Health and safety requirements
🤝 Mentorship and ongoing support
📱 The technology and tools used to support your work

During our recent site visit to our ReChas, We were struck by their drive to make the most of the current market, while identifying operational gaps and talking about practical solutions to keep things moving forward.

We are also looking at the bigger picture in Beaufort West. By establishing frameworks, We are ensuring that local micro-entrepreneurs aren’t just "getting by," but are fully equipped to thrive.

In an interactive session at the africa_forward Summit titled “Future Focus on the Youth” Project Lead, Zachariah Thomas shared and presented how is empowering youth through recycling and technology. By training young people to run micro-recycling enterprises, ReCha is creating real economic opportunities while tackling waste in communities across South Africa. The PechaKucha-style talk, followed by informal interactions, sparked engaging discussions on youth-led innovation and sustainable impact.

Our guest speakers shared practical and relatable insights to help ReCha owners reframe their approach to money and take meaningful steps toward building financially sustainable businesses.

These gatherings spark valuable conversations, and also create opportunities for ReCha owners across regions to connect and learn from one another. It is always so refreshing to see our ReCha owners share real and authentic stories of their journeys.

We were honoured to host our partners, UNICEF South Africa, for a field visit with our ReCha Entrepreneurs in Beaufort West, who have been actively operational for the past 2 months.

These entrepreneurs are already turning waste into opportunity, creating impact in their communities while building sustainable livelihoods.

A big thank you to UNICEF South Africa for walking this journey with us as we grow local champions in recycling and the circular economy.
