Water is life. Yet for over 2 billion people globally, safe drinking water remains out of reach. For many women and girls, this means hours spent each day collecting water instead of learning, working, or leading.
This World Water Day, we move beyond awareness to action. Because when water access improves, everything changes. Communities become more resilient, children stay in school, and women are empowered to lead and innovate.
At Foskor, water stewardship is not just a responsibility, it is a commitment to shared progress:
• Community impact: In response to the water crisis in Phalaborwa, Foskor is supplying domestic water to communities through its borehole system
• Collaboration: Partnering with uMngeni-uThukela Water and City of uMhlathuze Municipality to address water challenges in Richards Bay
• Protecting ecosystems: Continuous seepage management prevents pollution of nearby streams
• Reliable operations: Rapid response to leaks and system failures ensures continuity and accountability
• Sustainable use: Ongoing maintenance and monitoring improves long-term water efficiency
• Reuse and efficiency: Processed water is recycled within operations, reducing demand on fresh water sources
• Cleaner air: Water reuse supports dust suppression and reduces atmospheric emissions
• Responsible management: Separation of clean and dirty water safeguards water quality
• Smart measurement: Accurate water accounting strengthens long-term planning and conservation
Water is both a shared heritage and a human right. As we mark world Water day, we are reminded that water challenges are not insurmountable. They are opportunities to lead with responsibility, partnership, and innovation.
Where water flows, equality grows. Every drop saved, protected, and shared brings us closer to a more equal and sustainable future.
