🛠️ The Story of AAMA Office Machines and the Man Who Made It All Possible 💙🇿🇦
In 1993, a humble garage in Polokwane became the birthplace of what would grow into one of Limpopo’s most trusted office and school suppliers — AAMA Office Machines.
But this story doesn’t start with machines.
It starts with a man.
A dream.
And the kindest heart you could imagine.
👨🔧 Jorge Duarte Almeida, born in Portugal, came to South Africa with no English, no resources, and no roadmap — just a heart full of grit and a soul full of generosity.
With nothing but determination and love, he started building.
Quite literally.
He hand-built every machine in his factory, machines that are still in use to this day, creating the very furniture and tools we provide to schools and businesses across Limpopo. His work wasn’t just clever. It was extraordinary.
For Jorge, AAMA wasn’t just a business.
It was his life. His home. His purpose.
Even in his 80s, he arrived at the shop every single day, rain or shine, long after most would have retired. As his body grew tired, a bed was placed at the back of the shop so he could rest… but he never wanted to be anywhere else.
💙 His heart belonged here.
The clients he served? He adored them.
Jorge had the rare gift of making everyone feel like the most important person in the room
Especially the rural schools who struggled financially.
He understood their challenges and always went out of his way to help, not once charging interest, not once turning them away.
He often donated out of his own pocket, quietly, selflessly, and with love.
🤍 “They have enough stress already,” he used to say. “I want to help, not hurt.”
That kindness became our culture.
That compassion became our promise.
Today, AAMA is proudly run by his family, and everything we do is in honor of him.
We still don’t charge interest on our accounts.
We still believe in relationships over transactions.
And we still serve with the same heart he gave us.
