Welcome to my page 💚

I’m a passionate South African Sign Language (SASL) interpreter, educator, and advocate for inclusion within the Deaf community. With over 20 years of experience engaging with Deaf culture and more than 6 years as a professional interpreter, my mission is simple: to bridge communication gaps and create spaces where everyone feels seen, heard, and understood. Through my work a

nd my company, Deafways, I provide interpreting services, promote Deaf awareness, and support meaningful communication between Deaf and hearing communities. I believe that:
✨ Inclusion starts with understanding

🌿 SOULFUL SUNDAY 🌿

In a world that moves so fast, sometimes the most powerful thing we can do is pause… breathe… and reflect. ✨

Today is a reminder that life is not only about achievements and busy schedules — it is also about gratitude for the little moments:
☀️ A new day
💙 The people we love
🤝 Human connection
🌱 Growth and second chances

No matter what this week looked like, you made it through — and that alone is something to be thankful for. 🌸

As we prepare for a new week and month ahead, let’s choose kindness, inclusion, peace, and gratitude. ✨

👇 Share ONE thing you are grateful for today.

Hello June 🌿

A new month is a new reminder that you’ve made it this far — through challenges, growth, change, and moments that tested your strength.

Take a deep breath, slow down, and step into June with faith, courage, and gratitude. There is still so much beauty waiting to unfold in the second half of this year. ✨

May this month bring peace to your heart, clarity to your mind, and purpose to your journey. 💙

To every organisation, school, courtroom, church, business, and event planner… accessibility should never be seen as a favour. It is a basic human right. 🤝

For the Deaf community, equal access means:
✔️ Being included
✔️ Being understood
✔️ Having a voice
✔️ Standing equal in every room

True inclusion happens when communication barriers are removed — not tomorrow, not someday, but today. 🌍✨

At Deafways, we believe that every conversation matters and every person deserves access. 💙

👇 Tag a business, organisation, or leader who believes in inclusion and equal access for all.

⚠️ TRUTH ABOUT INCLUSION ⚠️

More than 1 billion people worldwide live with some form of disability — yet many still face barriers every single day simply because society was not designed with accessibility in mind. 🌍

Inclusion is not about “helping” people fit into the world.
It’s about building a world where everyone already belongs. 💙🤝

Accessibility benefits EVERYONE:
✔️ Better communication
✔️ Stronger communities
✔️ More opportunities
✔️ More human connection

True inclusion starts when we stop asking people to adapt to barriers — and start removing the barriers instead. ✨

❄️ WISDOM WEDNESDAY ❄️

To all the hard-working souls, busy parents, professionals, students, and dream-chasers trying to push through these cold winter days… remember this: slowing down to rest and recharge is not weakness — it’s wisdom. ☕✨

Sometimes the warmest moments are the simple ones:
A hot cup of coffee ☕
A blanket and good conversation 🧣
A ride through the countryside 🏍️
Time with family, friends, or your furry companions 🐾

Winter reminds us to pause, breathe, and appreciate life’s little comforts. 🌿

👇 Tell us in the comments:
What’s YOUR favourite way to stay warm during winter? 🔥❄️

🤟 TEACH TUESDAY CHALLENGE 🤟

Learning sign language is a journey — and mistakes are part of learning. 💙

We thought it would be fun to let our Deaf community help us out today 👀✨

Can you spot what’s wrong in this video?
What could these two signers improve or correct? 🤔

Let’s keep the comments kind, educational, and supportive so we can all learn together. 🌍🤝

👇 Deaf community, we challenge YOU to guide us!

Because every correction helps build better communication and greater inclusion. 💫

New week. New opportunities. 🌿

The seeds you plant today through hard work, consistency, and faith will become tomorrow’s victories. Even the small steps matter. Keep showing up, keep believing, and keep moving forward — your effort is building something greater than you can see right now.

Let this week be filled with purpose, growth, and courage. ✨

Mental health struggles are often invisible — especially for Deaf children and children with communication barriers. 💙

Every child deserves to be heard, understood, supported, and included.
Today, on National Children’s Mental Health Awareness Day, let’s create spaces where children feel safe to express themselves without fear or silence.

A conversation, a sign, a moment of understanding can change a life. 🤟
