Good evening, everyone.
Many people have asked us what we mean when we say we are "making them dance." The truth is simple: "making them dance" is a phrase we use to describe holding criminals accountable for the crimes they have committed. It has never been about entertainment or humiliation—it is about ensuring that those responsible for criminal acts face the consequences of their actions.
Over the years, the phrase has become associated with our work, and we are proud that many other security companies have adopted it. We believe we started the "dance movement," and it is encouraging to see others committed to fighting crime. However, we also want to offer a word of caution.
We no longer encourage posting videos of suspects "dancing." There are important legal and professional reasons for this. By posting such videos, we may unintentionally create evidence that places security officers or companies at risk by confirming our direct involvement in an incident. We do not want any security professional to face unnecessary legal challenges because of social media content.
We work closely with many dedicated members of the South African Police Service, and we appreciate the support and cooperation we receive from them. While there are a few individuals whose work ethic leaves much to be desired, we also know there are many committed officers who serve the public with integrity. Our focus has always been on professionalism, effective investigations, technical response, and delivering results—not on competing with law enforcement.
A few years ago, around 2014 or 2015, we were arrested on three counts of attempted murder and three counts of assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm (GBH). Those allegations did not stand because there was no evidence to support them. When the suspect was handed over, there were no visible injuries, and nothing substantiated the accusations against us. Unfortunately, there were individuals who disliked the work we were doing and attempted to portray us as the villains. That experience taught us the importance of protecting ourselves legally while continuing to serve the community.
To all security companies, especially those who have embraced the "dance" concept, our message is this: continue fighting crime, continue holding criminals accountable, but do so professionally and within the boundaries of the law. Be careful about what you post online, because social media can sometimes work against you.
Dance lessons remain important—but professionalism, discipline, and legal compliance are even more important.
Let's continue doing the work, protecting our communities, and ensuring justice is served.
