I was doing a talk this morning about STAY IN THE GAME.
Here are some of the thoughts I gathered while preparing; they will help you think of ways to stay in the game.
South Africa 2025 – Our Survival Code
My only hope is this: that we don’t destroy ourselves before we discover our true potential.
Here in South Africa, in 2025, we stand at a crossroad. Every day, you can feel it - the weight of struggle, but also the whisper of promise. It’s like standing in the African bush at dawn: silence, tension, and then suddenly, the call of a bird reminds us that life carries on, if we choose it.
The question is simple: will we survive with purpose, or stumble into collapse?
I believe the answer lies in a survival code - not complicated, but powerful.
First: Unite or fall.
In the wild, a herd survives not because of the strongest bull, but because it stays together against predators. In the same way, we must put South Africa first, above race, party, or faction. Division weakens us. Unity protects us.
Second: Work, don’t wait.
The soil gives nothing unless the seed is planted. Waiting for handouts kills initiative. But every small business started, every field worked, every skill shared - that’s where dignity and growth are born.
Third: Respect nature.
We are drinking our rivers dry and poisoning our air. But nature is not our enemy - it is our greatest ally. Water, soil, and clean air are the lifelines of our children. To destroy them is to sign our own death warrant.
Fourth: Grow wisdom.
Corruption is not just about money; it is about stealing the future. We need schools that teach critical thinking, leaders that model integrity, and communities that value wisdom over quick gain.
Fifth: Act with courage.
In the veld, survival often belongs to the one who dares to move first and keep on thinking, to seek shelter, to hunt, to adapt. In our country, courage means standing for what is right, even when it costs. Small acts of integrity—refusing a bribe, mentoring a child, caring for a neighbour—these are what build nations.
This is my Survival Code for South Africa in 2025. Not just to scrape by, but to live with purpose.
The truth is: our potential is vast. We are a nation of resilience, of creativity, of deep spirit. But potential means nothing without action.
So let us unite. Let us work. Let us protect. Let us learn. Let us act.
And maybe then - just maybe - South Africa will not only survive, but discover the true greatness she was born for.
