I have been doing some pro-bono mentoring for a small business start-up recently.
I see the same kinds of beginner mistakes in every industry and I am grateful for my many years of experience which allow me to help enthusiastic young people who are trying to make a business for themselves.
Top message I shared with my client this week that I want to share with anyone who is in the early days of starting a business -
Especially when starting a business on a shoestring - don't try to start big, even if your dream is very big.
Start where you are.
Keep it simple and focus on the basics -
Who, what, where, why, how.
Who is my customer?
What do they really want or need that I can provide?
Where can I reach them so they know what I have?
Why would they want to choose my product or service over anyone else's out there?
How can I make my product or service delightful or special so my customers or clients want to keep coming back?
If these are at the core of your initial investment, you will be able to build something really worthwhile 😎
Hope this advice is helpful and encouraging!
