😁We’re proud to share the successful handover of a R5.1 million water infrastructure project to the Mbongampisi community. This project forms part of our broader commitment, with over R12 million invested in water access initiatives since FY22, as we continue working to build a brighter future for our local communities.💧

This moment marks more than just the completion of a project we started a year ago, it reflects what we can achieve when we work together with our partners in the King Cetshwayo District Municipality and uMfolozi Local Municipality.

For the 65 households and over 520 residents who have long relied on water tankers, this project is a meaningful step toward reliable, sustainable access to clean water.

Together, we have delivered:
• A newly drilled and tested borehole
• 4.3 km of installed pipeline
• 21 communal standpipes
• A 50 000 litre water storage tank
• A pump house, generator, and perimeter fencing

As we handed over the project, we were reminded that access to water is not just about infrastructure, it’s about dignity, better health, and creating opportunities for communities to thrive.

This , we celebrate the power of investing in South Africa’s future, its youth. ⭐

🎓Education remains at the core of Hillside’s long-term impact. Since 2019, the company has invested R125 million in bursary support, funding full undergraduate studies at accredited universities across 58 fields of study. By removing financial barriers, we’re helping build the country’s next generation of technical and professional talent.

Since 2022, nearly R10 million has also been invested through the Feenix Trust, supporting 81 students by clearing historical debt and providing laptops, data, food vouchers and wellness support.

For Zekhethelo Myeni, this investment changed everything. Once faced with financial constraints, she pursued Metallurgical and Materials Engineering with determination. Through the South32 Dr Xolani Mkhwanazi Bursary, she was able to complete her studies and unlock her potential.

Today, she’s making an impact as a graduate in Hillside Reduction, applying her knowledge to improve energy efficiency in smelting operations.💛

⭐Good luck to our Hillside Comrades runners!⭐

This weekend, some of our Hillside team will be taking on the incredible challenge of the Comrades Marathon, an epic ±86km journey.
For a few, it’s become a familiar road, with some running their 16th Comrades (an amazing milestone!). For others, it’s their very first time tackling this iconic race.

🤩Some of our Reduction Team members recently visited Izicabangele Day Care Centre in Gingindlovu, where they installed and painted a new jungle gym to refresh the play area. The work helped create a brighter, more functional space for the children.⭐

As part of the visit, the team also shared snack packs with both the children and staff.
Team members described the experience as meaningful and appreciated the opportunity to contribute in a practical way to the centre.💛

Over the years, I’ve grown from an operator to a supervisor, and now into a specialist role. Starting in 1995 as a mechanical fitter, Bruno built his career through curiosity, discipline and pride in doing the job right. Over the years, he’s taken on roles from maintenance controller to mobile supervisor, continually expanding his impact across the business.

🤩A defining highlight? Being part of the team that commissioned and started up the smelter, proof that success is always a collective effort.
