I facilitate a support group for survivors of narcissistic abuse, and many members eventually face the difficult process of leaving the relationship and rebuilding their lives.

I’m looking to connect with narcissistic-abuse informed professionals — attorneys, mediators, social workers, financial advisors, and others — who may be open to joining our group as guest speakers to help guide survivors through these complex transitions.

If this is your area of expertise, please send me a DM.

💔 “Why did the narcissist choose me?”

If you’ve ever asked yourself this question, you’re not alone — and it’s not your fault.

Narcissists don’t choose you because you’re weak.
They choose you because you have qualities worth exploiting — empathy, loyalty, strength, and compassion.

Let’s break it down 👇

Protecting Yourself from Workplace Bullying

Workplace bullying isn’t always obvious. Sometimes it’s subtle—eye-rolls in meetings, being excluded from important emails, or repeated “jokes” at your expense.
But over time, it chips away at confidence, performance, and well-being.

✨ Here are some strategies to protect yourself:

🔹 Know the signs
Recognise when difficult behaviour crosses the line into bullying: repeated undermining, intimidation, exclusion, or humiliation.

🔹 Set clear boundaries
Practice assertive communication. A simple, calm “I don’t appreciate being spoken to that way” can send a strong message.

🔹 Document everything
Keep a record of incidents (dates, times, witnesses, exact words/actions). This creates a factual timeline if you need to escalate.

🔹 Seek allies
Confide in a trusted colleague, mentor, or HR representative. Isolation is the bully’s power; connection is yours.

🔹 Look after your well-being
Bullying impacts mental health. Access counseling support, use your EAP if available, and prioritize self-care practices that restore resilience.

🔹 Know your rights
Familiarize yourself with workplace policies and labour laws. Bullying is not a personality clash—it’s a violation of dignity.

🌱 Remember: Protecting yourself doesn’t mean fighting alone. Healthy workplaces create psychological safety where everyone can thrive.

When “High Performance” Masks Toxicity

Some workplaces proudly call themselves “high pressure, high performance.” But often, this is just toxicity in disguise.

🔹 Employees become commodities instead of valued contributors.
🔹 Constant stress is normalized, leading to burnout.
🔹 Turnover skyrockets, because people don’t stay where they don’t feel respected.

👉 But it doesn’t have to be this way. Thriving organizations can demand excellence without destroying their people.

💡 Solutions for Healthy High Performance:
1. Value People as Humans First – Recognition and empathy fuel motivation more than fear ever could.
2. Set Realistic Expectations – Sustainable performance comes from pacing, not pressure.
3. Encourage Psychological Safety – Innovation thrives where employees feel safe to speak up without retaliation.
4. Invest in Wellbeing – Support mental health, offer flexible solutions, and show care beyond deadlines.

✨ The best leaders don’t just chase results — they create environments where people want to stay, grow, and give their best.

❓“If you could design the ideal workplace culture, what’s one value or practice that would be non-negotiable for you?”

Workplace narcissistic abuse isn’t always shouting and slamming doors. Sometimes it’s subtle — gaslighting, shifting expectations, or public humiliation disguised as “feedback.”
Recognising it early can save careers and mental health.

🎭 The Many Faces of Narcissistic Abuse
Narcissistic abuse can wear many disguises — it’s not always the person you expect.

💔 The Controlling Partner – Gaslights, shames, isolates.
🏠 The Toxic Parent – Uses guilt, comparison, or silent treatment to keep control.
📈 The Bully Boss – Undermines, intimidates, and erodes your confidence.
👩‍👩‍👦 The Enabling Sibling – Excuses the abuse and invalidates your feelings.
🤝 The Fake Friend – Plays caring while quietly betraying you.
🛡 The Covert Manipulator – Appears supportive but slowly breaks you down.

🚫 Abuse isn’t always loud. Sometimes it hides behind smiles, jokes, and “love.”
💡 Your boundaries are your protection — pay attention to patterns, not just moments.

💬 Question for you: Which “face” have you seen most in your life?
Your voice could help someone recognise theirs.
