The core staff of Busara Leadership Partners is limited by choice – so that we can focus of quality projects, assignments and delivery rather than pursuing clients to cover overheads and payroll. Had a ground-breaking and powerful AI Executive Programme which equipped leaders to shift from knowledge to ex*****on in an AI-driven world.

This programme is a collaboration between Busara Leadership Partners (Dudu Msomi), The Thinking Company (Nicola Tyler - Strategist), Adanian Labs (Irene Phoebe Kiwia), and AICE Africa (John Kamara)held at GIBS, bringing together a faculty actively working at the intersection of leadership, strategy, and AI across the continent.

The 2026 Executive AI Programme challenges leaders to move beyond knowledge into decisive ex*****on. In a world where machines outperform humans in analysis, leadership now demands judgement, accountability, and ethical clarity. This immersive experience equipped executives to design AI-ready organisations, master the People-Data-Infrastructure (PDI) framework, and lead with responsibility across safety, governance, and explainability.

Through case studies, real-world insights, and African enterprise context, leaders were also exposed to a practical AI readiness roadmap and how to develop a living AI strategy for competitive advantage. The result: executives who are not just informed about AI, but capable of lead with purpose, speed, and human-centred impact in an increasingly intelligent world.

The programme also had an exceptional company visit to Vodacom. Atenkosi Ngubevana (MBA, PgDip, BCom), Group Executive at Vodacom, specialising in AI strategy and digital transformation, shared the perspective of AI delivering real operational and commercial value without exposing IP secrets. Impactful. Nonetheless.
The tension between innovation and legacy systems. How they are approaching AI governance, risk, and accountability. What has been harder than expected and what they would do differently.

The intention was simple: to expose leaders to grounded, experience-based insight that accelerates their own decision-making.

The Executives left with practical roadmaps to lead responsibly, compete strategically, and drive human-centred Enterprise AI impact at speed.

We will run:
1. An AI Leadership Masterclass in August
2. 3-Day AI Executive Programme in October 2026.

True leadership is not heavy with ego, urgency, or control. It is anchored, yet light. A leader with a light spirit sees clearly, listens deeply, and moves with intention. In that presence, complexity settles, people feel seen, and impact emerges, quietly, but with enduring strength. - Dudu Msomi

Scenario planning is a leadership discipline that develops foresight, not certainty. It equips to consider alternative futures, test assumptions, and design policies that remain effective under changing conditions.

In South Africa’s democratic transition, constitutional and legislative frameworks were drafted with an expectation of dominant-party governance (the ANC). Little attention was given to a future shaped by coalition politics.

This omission created a legislative vacuum, leaving institutions unprepared for shared arrangements. The resulting instability is not a failure of democracy, but a failure of foresight.

Coalition politics is not an event.

It is a discipline. Without shared legislation, agreed principles and clear rules of engagement, coalitions collapse into bargaining tables driven by ego and survival, not governance.

Democracy suffers when coalitions prioritise numbers over values, positions over policy, and short-term wins over institutional stability.

Economic progress requires predictability. Investors, citizens and public servants need certainty, not perpetual renegotiation of power.

Coalitions must therefore be anchored in binding agreements, constitutional respect and policy coherence. When principles govern coalitions, compromise becomes constructive. When they do not, chaos replaces and pays the price.

What an honour to serve on the panel of judges for the Annual GIBS Client Dinner Awards.

This year, GIBS proudly celebrates 25 years of shaping leaders. My first encounter with GIBS was in 2001 when I enrolled for the Programme for Management Development ( PMD). It has been a journey of many courses over the years. And the unforgettable MBA experience.

In the Corporate Knights 2025/2026 Better World MBA Ranking, climbing to #23 globally and securing a spot among the Top 40 MBA programmes worldwide.

The Annual Client Dinner Awards Ceremony to recognise the outstanding achievements of clients was really nostalgic and yet full of excitement about the journey ahead.

The process of judging was really taken seriously. Lots of debates. Evidence side by side. I have truly not had so much fun as a judge. The magic. Do it with people who are committed. Actually defend and fight for every score.

Congratulations to the winners in various categories. For this 25th year celebration. KRIJAY GOVENDER, the MC for the evening was just what the doctor ordered to exhale from a very hectic few weeks.

Great evening!

No matter who you are, no matter what you do, no matter who your audience is: 30 percent will love it, 30 percent will hate it, and 30 percent won’t care. Stick with the people who love you and don’t spend a single second on the rest. Life will be better that way. - James Altucher
