A GOLD worth celebrating!

Our Stark-Condé Stellenbosch Cabernet Sauvignon 2024 has been awarded 95 points at the International Wine and Spirit Competition🍷🏅

“A dark, brooding bouquet of berry and cherry leads to rich dark cherry and chocolate notes. This flows into vibrant redcurrant acidity and ripe black fruits, balanced by gentle grip and a bright, herbal softness on the long, fresh finish.”

Stark-Condé Field Blend has been awarded 91 points by Wine Spectator 👏

The wine received the following review:
“Fresh and floral, with a lightly fleshy mix of nectarine, kiwifruit and green almond flavours animated by bright, tangerine-infused acidity and a tang of salinity. Shows good length through the lightly spiced finish.”

This recognition is a wonderful reflection of the quality and character of the 2024 vintage and we are thrilled to share it with you.

At Stark-Condé Wines, our organic philosophy is about paying attention to the small details that shape the bigger picture 🌱

This season, we’ve started placing canola straw between our vineyard rows (beneath the vines), as a natural way to build our soils. Acting as a living mulch, it helps hold moisture, keep weeds in check and slowly return nutrients back into the vineyard as it breaks down. It’s a way we can support healthier soils and contribute to more balanced vines over time.

Stark-Condé Monk Stone Chenin Blanc was awarded South Africa’s “Best Organic Wine” Trophy at the recent South African Trophy Wine Show 🏆

This is the 3rd year in a row that a Stark-Condé wine has been awarded this top organic accolade.

With granite soils and a crazy steep incline, this spectacular vineyard site is suited to producing an intense, mineral style of wine. The Monk Stone is a complex, age-worthy Chenin Blanc matured in primarily neutral French oak barrels. The bouquet of guava and quince is enhanced with notes of crème brûlée. The palate is fresh, and the finish is long with persistent minerality.

“Persistent and elegant, a nod to the Northern Rhône.”

“Heady with energetic scents of dried rose, lavender, and kiln-dried clay, this red reveals an intense core of red currant, cherry, and plum skin. Fine-grained tannins provide a focused texture that carries this through the persistent, elegant finish. A nod to the Northern Rhône. Syrah, Viognier, and Roussanne. Tasted twice, with consistent notes.”

Stark-Condé Wines ∙ Harvest Report 2026 🍇🌄🍷
The 2026 vintage was shaped by a dry growing season, with below-average winter rainfall and lower-than-average precipitation through most of the cycle. Despite this, soil moisture levels remained sufficient, supporting healthy vine growth and good overall vineyard balance.

Strong winds during flowering led to slightly reduced yields, although bud break and fruit set was even across most blocks. With little rainfall until late February, careful irrigation management was key. The dry summer conditions kept disease pressure low, resulting in clean, healthy fruit at harvest.

Warm weather accelerated ripening, leading to an early start to the harvest. Picking decisions were guided by careful vineyard tasting to ensure optimal flavour development alongside phenolicripeness. Yields were well below average, with small, loose bunches and berries contributing to good concentration. Ripening was notably even across varieties.

The white wines show purity, freshness, and intensity, while the reds display amazing colour, intense flavour and structure. A gentle winemaking approach, particularly for Cabernet Sauvignon, has been central to preserving balance and achieving refined tannins.

Cabernet Sauvignon stands out as a key variety in 2026, showing excellent colour, structure, and consistency. Overall, the vintage is characterised by balance, clean fruit expression, and strongquality across both white and red wines. We believe it may be one of the stand-out vintages of the past decade.

The final press is complete. It’s a simple sight, easy to miss, but it represents a lot.

🍇 We successfully hand-harvested 40 hectares’ worth of Jonkershoek grapes.

🍇 Each bunch was hand-sorted and put through our destemmer, or used for whole-bunch fermentation

🍇 All juice was successfully fermented in either stainless steel tanks, french oak barrels or open-top fermenters.

After pressing, most of our reds are moved to either barrels or concrete tanks for maturation. Our winemaking team will keep a close eye on these during the coming winter months.

Congratulations to our vineyard and winemaking teams on a successful, organic 2026 harvest. To our import partners, detailed harvest reports are coming soon ✨

This wine is based around the highest elevation vineyard on the estate, which at 550m is arguably one of Stellenbosch’s highest Cabernet vineyards. The site has very stoney decomposed granite soils, and a perfect aspect toward the afternoon sun. Although this vineyard gets a cooling breeze, it averages 45 minutes more sunlight each day which allows for a slower ripening period. This Bordeaux-style blend is matured for about 20 months in French oak barrel before being bottled with no fining and no filtration.
