MORUKURU BEACH LODGE
Set within the De Hoop coastal reserve, the lodge is designed as a low-impact intervention guided by its landscape.
The plan is orientated to maximise ocean views, with primary living spaces opening directly onto terraces and courtyards. This establishes a strong visual connection to the dunes and coastline, shaping how the spaces are experienced.
A restrained palette of stone, timber and concrete anchors the building to site. These materials were selected for their durability in the coastal environment and their ability to weather over time.
The lodge operates off-grid, with solar energy and low-impact systems integrated into the design from the outset.
