Silence can say more than any slogan.
Earlier this year, our BALEBOARDS installation went up across Accra, Ghana. Billboard faces covered entirely in second-hand clothing. No logos. No brand messaging. No call to action.
Artist Emmanuel Aggrey Tieku, a 2025 Ellipse Prize recipient, used the space to confront something real: the flow of unwanted "Obroni W'awu" clothing donated from wealthy nations into Ghana's textile waste system.
He put it simply.
"I am not providing a solution to the problem. But if I can bring people's attention to this real situation through unmissable billboards, I can get people talking about it."
And people talked. Over 15,000 views on TikTok. More than 20,000 on Instagram. All organic, without a single paid promotion.
Greg Benatar called it space for reflection rather than persuasion.
It is a reminder of what a billboard has always been capable of. Not just selling something. Making people stop and think.
What would your brand say if it said nothing at all?
