MILESTONE (Quite a heavy one):

We are proud to announce that we have reached the milestone of having recycled 75 tons of material since November 2015.

That is 75 tons of "waste" that has been kept out of the landfill. It has taken lots of hard work, time and effort with limited resources but we are going to continue the war on waste.

Comparably, we have recycled a simliar weight to 13 African elephants! Not bad at all.

SAVE THE BOOKS:

Last week we were asked by Ricky Sparrowhawk from Tactics ICT Solutions to help relocate books from a TEARS Animal Rescue charity book shop that was closing down. We only had 5 hours load up as many books as possible. So we got stuck in and managed to save 1000's of books from being turned into pulp. This was the only option as TEARS simply had no other alternative.

Thank to Ricky and some serious effort, these books were taken to SACS Junior School where they will be used in the library. Other books will be send to schools in need.

There was something special about dealing with some many books. A true sense of tangible education and knowledge all at your fingers tips.

We recently had an interesting glass pick up where we recycled all the alcohol bottles that were confiscated and subsequently destroyed by the City of Cape Town.

We are happy to recycle anything at anytime no matter what the story is.

Here is a massive multi-national company, IKEA USA, being extremely progressive and caring about the environment.

We wonder if any South African companies are going to step up.

The furniture retailer is looking at using biodegradable mycelium “fungi packaging” as part of its efforts to reduce waste and increase recycling.
