PREFACE
By the General Manager-Michael Musonda
Grizzly Mining Limited
At Grizzly Mining Limited, we firmly believe that sustainable development and operational excellence can only be achieved through inclusivity, equal opportunity, and empowerment of all people, regardless of gender. It is therefore with great pride and commitment that we continue to champion the inclusion of women across all sectors of our mining operations, in line with international labour standards, global gender equality frameworks, and the SADC Protocol on Gender and Development of 2008.
The mining industry has historically been perceived as a male-dominated sector. However, the world is changing, and so must our institutions and industries. Today, Grizzly Mining Limited stands as a progressive and responsible mining company that recognizes the immense value, talent, resilience, and leadership that women bring to the sector. From engineering, geology, administration, environmental management, finance, safety, heavy equipment operations, and technical services, women are increasingly becoming an integral part of our workforce and decision-making structures.
Our commitment to women’s inclusion is not merely a policy obligation but a strategic and moral responsibility aimed at promoting fairness, diversity, innovation, and economic empowerment. We are proud to be contributing to Zambia’s national development agenda and supporting regional and international aspirations for gender equality and women’s participation in productive industries.
This milestone represents more than corporate achievement; it is a transformative step for the mining sector in Zambia and beyond. By creating opportunities for women in mining, Grizzly Mining Limited is helping to break barriers, challenge stereotypes, and inspire future generations of young women to pursue careers once considered unattainable.
As we continue to expand our operations and social investments, we remain committed to fostering a safe, equitable, and supportive working environment where women can thrive, lead, and contribute meaningfully to the growth of the company and the nation at large.
We extend our gratitude to our employees, stakeholders, government institutions, and community partners who continue to support this vision of inclusivity and shared progress. Together, we are building not only a stronger company but also a more equal and prosperous society.
Indeed, this is a milestone for Zambia, the Southern African region, and the global mining industry.
