THE DECISIONS WE MAKE

I've come to understand that the decisions we make when we're in our early 20's really affects our every aspect of life even years after.
These decisions may include our parten of life, friends, career choice aswell as our Love life.

Agony is wanting to live a life of impressing others rather than chasing your dreams. From my observation, the biggest mistake that many youths make is not taking advantages of every opportunity they find of which may include keeping people who wish the best for them, this one is very important.

There are certain people who come into our lives not for their personal gain but because they genuinely want the best for us and such one's can even go a thousand miles away just to see us succeed and smile. Many let their selfish desires and way of life make them loose such one because they focus on the irrelevant things and not what they'll gain from that relationship, and the saddest part of it all is that it's almost impossible to get such one's back, unless you play your cards very well.

Make sure you connect and never loose such one's, the hard truth is that things nowadays will go well for you if you're connected, so don't destroy your network, keep it strong.

You need the connection!!!!!!!

What do you think is the best measure of success?🤔

If you measure your success against other people's success then you're doing it wrong🙅.

Many think success is having what you desire the most and having what those you view as successful have, but NO🙅, that's not true Success. Infact the moment you start comparing your success to other people's success will be the beginning of unending stress, unreasonable hatred and depression.

Yes it is true we need to draw inspiration from successful individuals, but never use their success to measure your's.

What then is true Success?🤔

True Success is the difference between what you had, along with what kind of person you were with what you currently have now and what kind of person you've become.

So to measure your success, look back 5 years ago (more/less) and think of how much you've achieved, that is true Success 👌.

Yes our friends may be doing fine, building and renting the most expensive house's, marrying and getting married, employed by the best companies and getting huge sums of cash, some may be abroad, driving company vehicle and others are in expensive school's. Because we don't have all that we feel ours is failure 😥...Success comes slowly, but that's only if we continue working hard 🏋️‍♀️💪.

Focus on what you've achieved and wish to achieve, not on what others have achieved. Just get inspiration from their success 👌.

Career Choice.

In many cases if not all, very few individuals actually do what they desired to. Most of us found our selves doing courses we never even imagined we would actually study 🙆.

Okay just be honest...have you ever heard a pre- grade say I wanna study purchasing and Supply 🤣😂, nanga ati I wanna do Human resource management olo public administration 😂🤣😂, but these are the same people packing ma Hilux pa Government complex🤔.

From childhood I wanted to do Medicine and still do but circumstances did not allow and ended up doing Human resource management, something that never even crossed my mind😁, but look, I feel this is exactly what I was supposed to study because it's something I've come to love and has brought huge dreams, such as opening my own HR consultant and recruitment firm, something I really wanna work towards archiving.

We now live in a world where those who've done health related courses and educational programs are struggling together with us ba business in the labor market.

So if the availability of employment determines the course you wanna do, we will be in tears together, employment has just become scarce for every profession.

Lesson

No matter where life takes you acceptance is the key, see it as the best thing you've done and look for opportunities it brings across not forgetting to be diverse. Believe me the first stage to failure is not accepting your current situation and decisions you've made in the past.

There's greatness in every career choice you make and success is a sure thing no matter what.

Most importantly, try to do what brings you joy 😊 because at the end of it all, your happiness matters the most.

🤗🤗

Do you know how much you should be paid for working on a public holiday?

As indicated in the employment code Act, 2019, 75(3) " An employer shall pay an employee who works on a public holiday or on a weekly rest day, where the public holiday or weekly rest day does not form part of the employee’s normal working week, double the employee’s hourly rate of pay".

Just so you know 🤗🤗

PATERNITY AND MATERNITY LEAVE.

Let's now discuss maternity leave yacimuna 😂🤣 which is referred to as "Paternity leave" as well as "Maternity leave".

1.PATERNITY LEAVE

By definition paternity leave is a period of absence from work granted to a father after or shortly before the birth of his child.

According to section 46 of the employment code Act, 2019, upon an agreement between an employer and an employee which is more favourable to the employee, a male employee who remains in continuous employment with the same employer for a period of twelve months immediately preceding the beginning of leave under this section is entitled to at least five continuous working days paternity leave, if the employee is the father of the child, the employee has submitted to the employee’s employer a birth record of the child and if the leave is taken within seven days of the birth of a child.

So guys if you meet the above then you have 5 days to welcome that new born baby, maternity yacimuna kaa😂🤣😂.

2. MATERNITY LEAVE

(a)How long does maternity leave last?

The Employment Code Act, under the provisions of section 41, provides for 14 weeks’ maternity leave(98 days). In the event of multiple births, the maternity leave will be extended for a further period of four weeks and reduced to six weeks in the case of a miscarriage in the third trimester.

(b) Qualifications

The Employment Code Act, 2019 section 41(3) Where a female employee remains in continuous employment with the same employer for a period of twenty-four months(2 year's) immediately preceding the beginning of leave under thissection.

And note that the maternity leave under sub section (1) shall be with fullpay where the maternity benefits are not paid under a written law providing for maternity benefits.

(c) What rights does a woman have upon her return to work from maternity leave?

On expiry of the maternity leave, the female employee is entitled to return to the job she had held before the maternity leave, or to a reasonably suitable job with terms and conditions no less favourable than those which had applied to her before the maternity leave. This is provided for under section 41(7) of the Employment Code Act.

Not withstanding having taken her maternity leave, the female employee is entitled to annual leave as stipulated under section 41(10) of the Employment Code Act.

Further, the female employee nursing her unweaned child is entitled, each working day, to two nursing breaks of 30 minutes each, or one nursing break for an hour. It is imperative to state that the nursing break period shall be six months from the date of delivery, and the said break will not be deducted from the number of paid hours of the female employee.

DID YOU KNOW?
A female employee is entitled to one day absence fromwork each month without having to produce a medical certificateor give reason to the employer🤔🤔, that is called "Mother's day".

LEAVE DAYS ENTITLED BUT NOT CUMULATIVE OR DEDUCTED FROM THE EMPLOYEES ACCRUED LEAVE DAYS.

Are you aware that according to the employment code, Act of 2019, you as an employee is entitled to certain Leave days which are not cumulative or deducted from your accrued leave days ?🤔🤔

Today let's just discuss these three below;

1. Sick Leave
2. Compassionate leave, and;
3. Family responsibility leave

1. Sick Leave

According to the Employment Code Act, 2019, section 38 sub section (1) An employee who is unable to perform that employee’s normal duties due to illness or injury not occasioned by the employee’s default shall notify the employer of the illness or injury and proceed on sick leave on production of a medical certificate from a health practitioner.

But remember, sub section (5) gives rights to an employer on the recommendation of a medical doctor, to discharge an employee on medical grounds where the employee does not recover from the illness or injury, under subsection (1),after six months of the date of the illness or injury, and the employee’s entitlement to sick leave shall cease.

So muntu wandi tekulwalilila🤦🙆

2.Compassionate leave.

As stated in Section 39, an employee is entitled to compassionate leave with fullpay for a period of at least twelve days in a calendar year where that employee has lost a spouse, parent, child or dependant or a justifiable compassionate ground.

3. Family responsibility leave

As stated in Section 40 subsection (1) An employee who has worked for a period of six
months or more, shall be granted leave of absence with pay for aperiod not exceeding seven days in a calendar year to enable the
employee to nurse a sick spouse, child or dependant, except thatthe employer may, before granting that leave, require the employeeto produce a certificate from a medical doctor certifying that the spouse, child or dependant is sick and requires special attention.

Note; Section 40, subsection (3) states that the days taken as leave under this section shall not be cumulative or deducted from the employee’s accrued leave days.

CANVASS

I've come to believe this word best describes an interview👌.

By definition "Canvass" simply means to question (someone) in order to ascertain their opinion on matters, and that's exactly why interviews are there.

You will agree with me to the fact that the interviewer has gone through your CV, results and clearly knows your abilities from those credentials but all that he wants is to hear your opinion on matters relating to the job so as to ascertain your suitability.

In my career so far, I've only attended three interviews of which two were successful and got me the jobs but one was unsuccessful. From my analysis the reason I couldn't get the job was because I wasn't providing my opinion when responding but focused more on what has been written, what I've heard and what people regard as the best way to do things, so that didn't give the interviewer a view of how I could make things happen as an individual.

From the over 20 interviews I've conducted so far, the reason I felt a candidate wasn't ideal is failure to provide an opinion, who wants to employ someone who can't provide solutions, someone who can't think critically, a person who doesn't know how to personalize answers and can't think outside the box?🤔

So what's my point here...

The next time you attend an interview, make sure you provide opinions. Your responses should be able to reveal what you as an individual think of the matter and how best you can deal with the situation.
Don't go in an interview and tell the interviewer ati " just as Ethan did, I will also do A and B, like really? 🤔 But instead say, "I feel the best way to deal with such a situation is A and B👌.

What employers want is your expertise and your abilities to solve issues through critical thinking.

It's very possible to get a Job with Zero connection and experience.

I got my first job as a Human resource officer straight after college.

It was on a Friday during my graduation ceremony when I received a call inviting me for interviews, I had Zero experience and all I had was my Diploma without any knowledge so what so ever about what is really involved in the actual managing of human labour apart from the theory part of human resource management.

I spent my Saturday and Sunday tirelessly preparing for this interview.
On a Monday I put on my suit and made sure I looked presentable becouse that's all i had to put an impression on the interviewer😂. Naturally I'm a very confident person and I always speak my mind, I answered all questions but struggled with one ... Why should we employ you with zero experience when we have more qualified candidates for this position?
I looked at the interviewer's and smiled not becouse I knew the answer but becouse I was blank◻️☹️.

I spoke my mind and responded, " I believe every organization has its own way of doing things and even if you get someone with experience, that person will need to learn your way of doing things and usually it's difficult for someone who is so rigid with what they know to change, What do you think is better, maturing someone your way or struggle to change ones way of doing things? . I can assure you despite not having the desired experience I'm the best amongst all the candidate becouse I'm the only one who will willingly adapt to the organization culture without any problems and moreover I'm a very fast learner, You should try me and if I fall , I'll resign my self before my probation even comes to an end".

The following day I received a call informing me that I was the successful candidate. It didn't end there but I proved to them that I was the best by performing to my level best upto the time I left the company to join another.

What do you need to pick from this👆.
1. If you're invited for interviews it means you're among the successful candidates and it all remains upto you
2. Prepare for the interview very well.
3. Look presentable, if I say presentable I mean presentable.
4. What interviewer's want is an assurance that you can do the job, so show confidence during the interview and make them believe you're the best person to employ.
5.Even if they may have a preferred candidate for that job, your goal when you get there is to make them pick you over their candidate.
6. Lastly but not the least, if you get that job, put in your level best, such that even when you leave they won't regret having employed you.
