*"✨THE SUITE 🌟*
He wasn't the kind of man who wore suits every day.
In Matero, he was just the guy in a striped shirt, standing under a mango tree, taking a selfie with the blue sky behind him. Life was simple — work, home, a few jokes with the neighbours.
Then he saw her.
She was at the bus stop on Great East Road, struggling with two big bags of tomatoes from Soweto Market. The bus had just left her.
He didn't think. He just walked up and said, "Let me help."
She laughed, "You look like you're going to a wedding in that shirt."
He laughed too. "I'm coming from nowhere. But if you need a groom, I'm available."
She was called Loveness. Not the Loveness from your WhatsApp drama — this Loveness had eyes that made traffic noise disappear.
From that day, he started passing by that bus stop every day at the same time. Sometimes she was there, sometimes she wasn't. When she was, they talked for 10 minutes that felt like 2.
One day he told her, "I want to be the man you see and you say 'that's my person'."
She said, "Then dress like my person."
So he bought his first real black suit. White shirt. Black tie. He stood in front of the mirror, no longer just a guy from the compound — he was a man going to claim his future.
He invited her to meet at the same bus stop, but this time he wasn't in a striped shirt. He was in that Men in Black suit, with sunglasses on even though it was 17:00.
She saw him from far and shouted, "Awe! Agent 007 has arrived!"
He took off the sunglasses slowly, like in the movies, and said, "I came to protect the most valuable thing in Lusaka."
"And what is that?" she asked.
"You."
She laughed until tears came out. Then she said yes to a coffee.
That coffee became every Sunday. Every Sunday became 2 years. Two years became a small house with a mango tree in the yard — the same kind of tree from his first photo.
And every time he puts on that black suit now, she still says, "MY MAN IN BLACK 😁"
