We hope that the news for the review of FISP actually means a complete overhaul as it can not empower small scale farmers adequately in its current structure. There will never be enough artificial fertilizers and hybrid seeds to subsidize for all farmers in need. The levels of empowerment under FISP will always leave some farmers out in terms of imputs. The way forward is to empower farmers with their own community seed banks with local seeds that they won't have to buy. Give them skills to make their of organic manure. Encourage them to grow a diversity of crops for increased food security and variety and watch wealth be created in the agricultural sector.
