Today, Zambia pauses.
Not in silence alone, but in remembrance.

To honour a man whose dream became a nation.
A freedom fighter, a statesman, a teacher of peace.

Today we remember Dr. Kenneth David Kaunda,
The voice that preached unity,
The heart that beat for Africa,
The spirit behind One Zambia, One Nation.

Today, the eagle flies a little prouder.
The soil remembers his footsteps.
The wind carries his songs of liberation.
And history whispers his name, KK.

He taught us that freedom carried responsibility,
That peace was strength, not weakness,
That a nation divided could never rise.

On this Kaunda Day,
We do not simply mark a birthday,
We honour a legacy.
A torch still burning.
A vision still calling.

May we walk with the humility he wore,
Speak with the conviction he carried,
And love Zambia with the devotion he gave.

For some men live in years,
Others live in history.

Kenneth Kaunda lives in a nation.

This evening, we join the nation at large in mourning the passing of our former Sixth Republican President, His Excellency Edgar Chagwa Lungu.

We remember him as a dedicated leader who served the people of Zambia with humility, resilience, and a heart for peace. His contributions to the development of our nation, especially in promoting unity and democratic governance, will remain etched in the history of our beloved country.
