Reference: Official Media Statement – FAZ Player Status Committee Decision Regarding Jackline Chomba
LUSAKA, ZAMBIA –Matu Sports Agency acknowledges the recent public commentary surrounding the contractual status of our client, Jackline Chomba. In the interest of ensuring that football stakeholders, supporters, and the media are accurately informed, we wish to clarify the facts as determined by the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) Player Status Committee (PSC).
The PSC has ruled that Jackline Chomba is a Free Agent with immediate effect following its determination that ZISD FC had materially breached its contractual obligations to the player. The agency respects the authority of the PSC as the competent body mandated to adjudicate such matters under FAZ regulations.
To assist the public in understanding the basis of the decision, we highlight the following key findings and issues arising from the proceedings:
1. Non-Payment of Contractual Obligations
The PSC proceedings centered primarily on the club's failure to fulfil its financial obligations to the player, including outstanding wages. The Committee considered the evidence presented by the parties and concluded that the club had failed to demonstrate compliance with its contractual payment obligations. The PSC subsequently found that the circumstances justified the termination of the employment relationship and declared the player a Free Agent.
2. Contract Registration and Regulatory Compliance
Questions have been raised publicly regarding documentation allegedly extending the player's contractual relationship beyond the registered contract period. The PSC considered the relevant documentation and regulatory requirements governing player registration and contract administration. The Committee ultimately determined that the player was entitled to the relief sought and that no enforceable contractual restriction prevented her registration with another club.
3. Orders and Sanctions Issued by the PSC
As part of its ruling, the PSC directed ZISD FC to facilitate the player's registration status in accordance with the Committee's decision. The ruling further provides for regulatory consequences in the event of non-compliance with the Committee's directives, in accordance with applicable FAZ regulations.
4. Agency Position
Matu Sports Agency has managed this matter in accordance with the applicable regulatory framework and in the best interests of the player. Throughout the process, our objective has been to safeguard the contractual, professional, and sporting rights of our client while respecting the jurisdiction and procedures of FAZ's judicial bodies.
Matu Sports Agency remains the duly appointed Representative of Record for Jackline Chomba under a valid Representation Agreement. We will continue to pursue all remedies available under FAZ and FIFA regulations to ensure compliance with the PSC decision and the settlement of any outstanding contractual obligations owed to the player.
We encourage all stakeholders and media institutions to rely on the official findings and communications of the FAZ Player Status Committee when reporting on this matter and to avoid speculation regarding issues that have already been considered through the appropriate regulatory process.
