Exploration of copper malachite in Chibwete Village, located approximately about 65 km from Lusaka, presents promising potential based on the region’s broader copper-bearing geology. Although not part of Zambia’s traditional Copperbelt, scattered malachite occurrences and recent exploration activity in surrounding districts suggest the possibility of localized secondary copper mineralisation. Malachite, a green copper carbonate mineral, typically forms near the surface and can serve as an indicator of deeper copper deposits. Preliminary exploration should involve geological mapping, rock sampling, and community engagement, followed by assays to determine copper content and feasibility for small-scale mining. Due diligence with local authorities and environmental regulations is essential before any extraction activity.
