PRESIDENT HH PAYS RESPECT TO THE NGONI NATION

Today, His Excellency President Hakainde Hichilema joined the Ngoni Nation and the people of Eastern Province in Chipata to pay his last respects to the late His Royal Highness Paramount Chief Mpezeni IV of the Ngoni people.

At Emusala, the President stood with fellow chiefs, government leaders, and thousands of mourners to honor a custodian of tradition, unity, and peace. Chief Mpezeni dedicated his life to preserving Ngoni culture and fostering harmony in Zambia.

In his message, President HH thanked the Royal Establishment for their guidance and reaffirmed government’s commitment to working with traditional leaders to develop Eastern Province and protect Zambian heritage.

“We have lost a great pillar of our nation. May his soul rest in eternal peace.”

Our thoughts and prayers are with the Ngoni Royal Family, the people of Chipata, and all Zambians during this time of mourning.

Fellow Zambians,

On this day, we remember the courage of those who fought and sacrificed for our freedom, dignity, and self-determination. Africa Freedom Day reminds us that our strength lies in unity, peace, and the shared dream of a prosperous continent.

As we approach the 2026 General Elections, I pledge to you: Zambia will lead by example. Our campaigns will be peaceful. Our debates will be about ideas, not insults. Our victory will belong to the people, and it will be achieved through your voice at the ballot box.
