🚨 FUNERAL UPDATE: NGONI ROYAL ESTABLISHMENT ISSUES DIRECTIVES 🚨

By: Augustine Kapambwe

Following the passing of King Mpezeni IV, the Ngoni Royal Establishment has released important guidelines to be observed during the mourning period:

πŸ”Ή Senior Chief Nzamane is the ONLY official spokesperson. Disregard any unauthorized statements.
πŸ”Ή Discussions about succession are strictly forbidden until the King is laid to rest.
πŸ”Ή ALL political activities in Ngoni areas have been suspended during mourning.
πŸ”Ή No political regalia or symbols will be allowed at the funeral.
πŸ”Ή Funeral coverage will be restricted β€” only accredited media will be permitted at designated points.

Zambia has reportedly lost an international copper arbitration case worth about US$92 million, an amount translating to over K2.4 billion.

The development has sparked debate among citizens, with many questioning how such huge amounts continue leaving the country while ordinary Zambians are struggling with the high cost of living.

The arbitration case is believed to be linked to disputes in the mining sector, one of Zambia’s biggest economic pillars.

TWO TODDLERS DIE IN TRAGIC HOUSE FIRE IN MBALA DISTRICT AS POLICE URGE PARENTS TO ENHANCE CHILD SUPERVISION

The Zambia Police Service in Northern Province wishes to confirm a tragic incident in which two juvenile twins aged two years died after a grass-thatched hut caught fire in Miyemba Village under Chief Nsokolo in Mbala District.

The incident occurred on 31st May 2026 at approximately 0730 hours and was reported to the Police at about 1100 hours by Isaac Simwinga, aged 27, of Miyemba Village.

The deceased have been identified as M/J Simwinga Field and M/J Simwinga Webby, both aged two years and biological twins.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the two deceased juveniles, together with two other children namely F/J Sula Nalwela aged six years and F/J Sila Nachilima aged two years, were playing inside a grass-thatched hut when the structure caught fire and was quickly engulfed in flames.

The two surviving children managed to escape unharmed, while the twins tragically failed to escape and were burnt to death.

Police officers responded promptly to the scene following receipt of the report and found the bodies of the two juveniles burnt beyond recognition. Preliminary findings further suggest that the children had been left without close adult supervision at the time of the incident.

The bodies were inspected at the scene, and the bereaved family and members of the community were counselled accordingly. The bodies have since been released to relatives for burial.

An inquiry file has been opened and investigations into the matter are continuing.

COMMENT

This unfortunate incident serves as a painful reminder of the dangers associated with leaving young children unattended, particularly in environments where there is access to fire, cooking materials, electrical appliances, water bodies, or other potential hazards.

The Zambia Police Service strongly urges parents, guardians, and caregivers to exercise heightened vigilance and responsibility in supervising children at all times. Young children are naturally curious and may unknowingly expose themselves to life-threatening situations when left unsupervised, even for a short period.

Parents and guardians are advised to ensure that:

* Young children are never left alone without responsible adult supervision.
* Matches, lighters, open flames, and other fire sources are kept out of children’s reach.
* Children are educated, according to their age, about the dangers of playing with fire.
* Community members remain alert and collectively support efforts aimed at protecting children from preventable accidents.

The safety and welfare of children is a shared responsibility. Through proper supervision and community vigilance, many such tragedies can be prevented.

JUST IN: XAVIER CHUNGU CHARGED UNDER NON-BAILABLE STATE SECURITY ACT PROVISIONS

Former Zambia Security Intelligence Service (ZSIS) Director-General Xavier Chungu and August 2026 elections Presidential candidate has reportedly been charged under the non-bailable provisions of the State Security Act (Chapter 111 of the Laws of Zambia).

Authorities have not yet released full details surrounding the charges, but the development has attracted significant public and political attention due to Chungu’s former role as head of the country’s intelligence service.

The State Security Act contains strict provisions relating to offences considered a threat to national security, with some offences classified as non-bailable under Zambian law.

A non-bailable offence means that an accused person cannot be released on bail while awaiting trial or court proceedings. In such cases, the accused remains in custody until the matter is concluded or unless a higher legal process determines otherwise.

LIUWA CONSTITUENCY TURNED SOLO RUNWAY AS SP CANDIDATE BOWS OUT!

Liuwa Constituency has just experienced one of those β€œwait… what just happened?” political moments.

The Socialist Party (SP) Parliamentary Candidate has officially withdrawn from the race, effectively clearing the path for UPND’s heavyweight, Situmbeko Musokotwane, who now finds himself cruising unopposed like a candidate on a private highway with no speed limits… and no competition in sight.

What was expected to be a heated ballot showdown has now turned into a solo performance, with voters in Liuwa watching as the race line-up suddenly shrinks to just one serious contender standing.

As it stands, Dr. Musokotwane is not just campaigningβ€”he’s practically doing a victory lap in slow motion, while the rest of the field has quietly exited stage left.

In politics, they say β€œit’s never over until it’s over”… but in Liuwa, the race has just taken an early retirement.
