MAFINGA SOUTH – On Wednesday, May 20, at exactly 11:30 AM, just 800 meters from the nomination center, my campaign vehicle was violently attacked by a gang of thugs wearing UPND regalia. They smashed the windows and windscreen while hurling insults and death threats at me and my team.
I have waited until today, Friday, May 22, to issue this statement — not out of fear, but to let the record speak for itself. And the record is damning.
Let me be clear: the driver behind the wheel at that moment was none other than the known driver of Robert Chabinga — the sitting Member of Parliament.
Now, here is where the system mocks us all. Arrests were made — yes. But within four hours, every single perpetrator was released. Four hours. Not four days. Four hours.
What does that tell you? It tells you that sureties were on standby before the crime was even committed. It tells you that this attack was not spontaneous — it was planned, rehearsed, and insured against consequence. The criminals knew they would walk free before they ever lifted a stone.
Today, those same perpetrators are as free as someone celebrating a graduation. They are walking the same streets, breathing the same air, likely plotting again. And we, the victims, are left waiting to be told when this case will even begin. No date. No urgency. No justice.
This is not law enforcement. This is a choreographed cover-up.
I condemn the Government of the Republic of Zambia for treating political violence like a minor inconvenience. When suspects are arrested and released within hours, when sureties appear like magic, when courts cannot give us a start date — that is not a failure of procedure. That is an endorsement of impunity.
Robert Chabinga has shown you his true colors. Not a leader but a tyrant who uses state capture to shield his thugs. No wonder the primary elections went against him. The people of Mafinga have already rejected him. Now he wants you to vote out of fear, not choice.
To the people of Mafinga South: I am with you. I will not back down. I will not be silenced. And I will not pretend that four-hour justice is justice.
And to Goliath strutting with his pre-arranged sureties and his released goons: remember, there is always an end to Goliath.
