THE GATEKEEPERS OF WEALTH: Meet the Brokers Who Hold the Keys to the LuSE

You have the ambition. You have the capital (even if it’s just K500). You have downloaded the LuSE Mobile App.

But when you try to sign up, you hit a question that stops many people in their tracks: "Select Broker."

Suddenly, you are staring at a list of names: Longhorn, Equity, Hobbiton.

Who are they? Why do you need them? And does it matter which one you pick?

If you want to play the game of wealth, you need to know the players. Let’s break down the role of the Stockbroker and introduce you to the three authorized heavyweights currently available on the LuSE App.

You Can’t Just "Walk In" to the Stock Exchange

Here is the first thing you need to know: The Lusaka Securities Exchange (LuSE) is a marketplace, but it’s not a supermarket. You cannot just walk in and pick shares off the shelf yourself.

You need a representative. A "middleman" with a license.

A Broker is your legal representative on the market. When you tap "Buy" on your phone, you are actually sending an instruction to your Broker. They take your money, go to the market (electronically), find a seller, and secure your shares.

On the LuSE App, you have three primary choices. Let’s meet them.

1. Longhorn Associates Limited

The name itself screams "Stock Market" (a "Bull Market" is a growing market). Longhorn Associates is a powerhouse in the Zambian financial sector. They are known for handling major corporate transactions and have a reputation for professionalism.

The Vibe: Corporate, structured, and serious.
Pick them if: You like the feel of a firm that handles institutional money. They are a solid, robust choice for long term investors.

2. Equity Capital Resources Plc

"Equity" literally means ownership. These guys are veterans in the game. Equity Capital Resources has been around the block and understands the deep mechanics of the Zambian economy.
