Chipindura High School Storms Into NASH National Soccer Finals
By Kuchineyi Lewis
Chipindura High School booked their place at the NASH National Soccer Finals set for Masvingo in June after a brilliant run in the provincial competition that confirmed their status as one of the most exciting schoolboy football teams in the country.
The National Sports Academy Talentees produced a disciplined and determined campaign, combining attacking power, defensive organisation and mental strength to secure qualification for the national stage.
Their latest achievement comes after a strong performance in the NASH Mashonaland Central Provincial Tournament, where they navigated the group stages, held their nerve in a tense semi-final and finished the job with a convincing victory in the final.
Chipindura began their campaign in emphatic fashion, beating Makuvatsine High School 4-0 in their opening group match. The result gave the team the perfect start and showed their attacking intent from the first whistle.
They followed up with a goalless draw against Rujeko High School, a result that tested their patience and defensive discipline while keeping them firmly in contention for qualification.
The semi-final proved to be one of the most demanding moments of the tournament. After a thrilling and dramatic 2-2 draw, Chipindura showed character and composure under pressure, winning 5-4 on penalties to secure a place in the final.
The penalty shootout once again demonstrated the team’s mental toughness and ability to perform when the stakes are high.
In the final, Chipindura delivered one of their most complete performances of the tournament, defeating St Francis 3-0 to seal qualification for the NASH National Soccer Finals.
The victory was not only convincing on the scoreboard, but also reflected the team’s growing maturity, tactical awareness and collective belief.
Across the tournament, Chipindura’s goals came from several key players. Justice Chadenga continued his impressive scoring form with three goals, while captain Tawananyasha Chisuse and Petros Mutapula contributed two goals each. Kenneth Makoni and Tadiwanashe “Agusto” Marimo also added a goal apiece to complete a balanced attacking display.
Agusto’s contribution was particularly notable because he is the team’s goalkeeper. His name on the scoresheet highlighted the depth of confidence within the squad and the ability of every player, regardless of position, to contribute to the team’s success when called upon.
The team’s creativity was also central to their success as critical assists came from Anesu Manzou, Tadiwanashe Marimo, Justice Chadenga and Marlon Zuruwi, whose contributions helped unlock opposition defences and create decisive scoring opportunities throughout the tournament.
The result confirms Chipindura High School’s rise from district champions to national finalists.
Their qualification follows a remarkable run that has been built on teamwork, discipline and the growing influence of the National Sports Academy development pathway.
The Talentees have shown that they are not only talented, but also capable of handling pressure, adapting to different opponents and competing with purpose.
Attention now turns to Masvingo, where the NASH National Soccer Finals will be hosted in mid-June and having secured their place among the country’s best school football teams, Chipindura High School now has a new and bigger target: to be crowned national champions.
The journey to Masvingo represents an opportunity for the National Sports Academy Talentees to prove themselves on the biggest school football stage in Zimbabwe.
With their current form, attacking quality and strong team spirit, Chipindura will travel to the national finals with confidence and ambition.
