🔹 What SI 41 of 2026 is about:
This statutory instrument revises compliance fees and levies charged by local authorities across Zimbabwe as part of the Government’s Ease of Doing Business reforms.

🔹 Key provisions affecting businesses and the public:
• Certain local authority licensing fees for retail operations have been abolished — including fees for bakery licenses within a retail shop, fish‑monger licences, takeaway and bottle store licences where operated within a retail outlet.
• Levies such as the timber transportation levy, borehole/water abstraction fee, and livestock movement clearance levy have also been removed.
• Parking fees have been standardised and reduced to a maximum of US$0.50 per hour (down from US$1).
• Clamping charges are now capped at US$20 per incident, and tow‑away fees have been cut by 50 %.

*COMPANY RE-REGISTRATION*

This is a mandatory re-registration notice affecting all companies and PBCs in Zimbabwe that were registered BEFORE the electronic registry system was introduced.

*🔍 WHAT IS RE-REGISTRATION?*
Re-registration means: 👉 Moving your company’s details from the old manual registry to the new electronic Companies Registry system under the Companies and Other Business Entities Act [Chapter 24:31].

*👥 WHO MUST RE-REGISTER?*
✔️ All companies
✔️ All Private Business Corporations (PBCs)
✔️ That were registered before the electronic registry system
If your company is old *(registered before March 2024)*, this applies to you.

*⏰ DEADLINE: 20 APRIL 2026*
According to Section 303 of the Act:If a company fails to re-register by 20 April 2026, it will:
❌ Be automatically deregistered
❌ Be removed from the Companies Register
❌ Become legally inactive
❌ Lose the right to conduct business
❌ Have bank accounts restricted or frozen
*⚠️ This happens by operation of law — no warning letter needed.*

*🏦 WHY IS BANK INVOLVED?*
Banks are required to comply with:
KYC (Know Your Customer) rules.
Anti-Money Laundering laws.

So Banks must ensure:
✔️ Every company they bank is legally active
✔️ Every company has up-to-date registration records

If your company is not re-registered, the bank cannot legally maintain your account.
