Why should Pollution remediation in oil fields be in priority list of Nile Petroleum Co. Managing Director .Chol Deng Reform Manifesto
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Since oil exploration began across the country pollution remediation programs r ignored or not implemented.
Petroleum oil is one of the most toxic and dangerous chemicals in existence. Here is wht we need know about its health impact. Many Researchers have uncovered irreparable harm to humans exposed to oil and gas from spills. These effects can be grouped into respiratory damage, liver damage, decreased immunity, increased cancer risk, reproductive damage or genetic mutation and higher levels of some toxics such as hydrocarbons and heavy metals (Paz-y-Miño et al. 2008).
In anywhere in the world, environmental impact of the project is first thing to be scrutinised, hence performance of environment impact assessment is carryout before approval for its operation.
Can we served our communities/country with integrity.
NOTE: There r cheapest and convenient environmental remediation techniques available but excluded for Intellectual Property (IP) reasons.
What is Renewable Energy
In a broad sense renewable energy sources refer to hydropower, biomass energy, solar energy, wind energy, geothermal energy, and ocean energy.
The term ’new’ renewables suggests a greater focus on modern and sustainable forms of renewable energy, in particular; modern biomass energy, geothermal heat and electricity, small-scale hydropower, low- temperature solar heat, wind electricity, solar
photovoltaic and thermal electricity, and marine energy.
Discussions on biomass are sometimes clouded by problems of definition. In my own understanding, the term combustible renewables and waste includes all vegetable and animal matter used directly or converted tosolid fuels, as well as biomass-derived gaseous and liquid fuels, and industrial and municipal waste converted to energy.
The main biomass fuels in developing countries are firewood, charcoal, agricultural residues and dung often referred to as traditional biomass.
The Paris Agreement is a global agreement on climate change which was reached on 12 December 2015 in Paris. The agreement presents an action plan to limit global warming 'well below' 2°C. It covers the period from 2020 onwards.
The main elements of the new Paris Agreement:
long-term goal:
Governments agreed to keep the increase in global average temperature to well below 2°C above pre-industrial levels and pursue efforts to limit it to 1.5°C.
Contributions: Before and during the Paris conference countries submitted comprehensive national climate action plans to reduce their emissions
ambition.
Governments agreed to communicate every 5 years their contributions to set more ambitious targets.
Transparency: they also accepted to report to each other and the public on how well they are doing to implement their targets, to ensure transparency and oversight.
Solidarity: the EU and other developed countries will continue to provide climate finance to assist developing countries both to reduce emissions and build resilience to climate change impacts.
Climate change is an important global issue affecting everyone. This timeline follows the process of reaching a new global legally binding agreement on climate - the Paris Agreement and its follow-up. It also covers the role of the EU in this process.
