WE JUST CROSSED 1MWP OF SOLAR AND 1MWH OF BATTERY STORAGE — IN ONE YEAR.

"If we chase perfection, we can catch excellence." That's not a slogan for us. It's the reason we don't cut corners on a single install and it's why this milestone happened at all.

The system that pushed us over the line was a residential installation: a Deye 10kW Hybrid Inverter, 12 JA Solar panels (7.14kWp) and two CF-Energy batteries (20.88kWh combined), fully integrated with the grid.

One more household that no longer plans their evenings around ZESA's schedule.

Every megawatt behind this milestone represents a family or a business that made a decision the rest of the market is still putting off. They didn't wait for the "right time." They made the call and now they're not thinking about load shedding anymore — because it isn't their problem anymore.

If you're still waiting, ask yourself what you're actually waiting for.
The future is bright for those who take action NOW.

Message us on WhatsApp Business and find out what a properly engineered system looks like for your home.

It is with heavy hearts that we, the WattWise-Zimbabwe team, extend our deepest condolences to all who have lost loved ones in the Lake Kariba ferry tragedy.

This is a painful moment for Kariba, for Mashonaland West and for our whole nation.

Many families have lost more than one member and entire communities are grieving together. We hold them and all those still searching for answers, in our thoughts.

We stand with the people of Zimbabwe in mourning this loss and we join the call for renewed investment in the safety of our transport infrastructure, so that no family has to bear this kind of grief ever again.

Rest in peace to those who were lost.

CONTROL PANEL FAULT: FLICKERING CONTACTOR LIGHT. THREE POSSIBLE CAUSES. WE FOUND THE REAL ONE.

We recently attended a control panel where the contactor indicator was pulsing instead of staying steady. Three things can cause that — and they look identical until properly tested.

We didn't guess. We disassembled the panel, traced it systematically and fixed the real cause for good - not a temporary patch.
Technicians, Electricians and Engineers... What could be the problem here.?

A genset that hesitates during an outage might not respond when you actually need it. That's not a risk worth carrying.
Has your backup system ever flickered, hesitated or acted inconsistently? Don't wait for it to fail completely.
Message us now - we'll trace it properly and fix it once.

A prospective client reached out on Facebook asking for a price on a 400kW system. Straightforward request. Then came the pushback: "Other solar installers are just giving prices, so give me the prices." And behind that, the real question: "Why should I move to solar? I already pay ZESA."

Both questions deserve honest answers, not a discount.
We are not "just solar installers." That distinction matters more than it sounds. Zimbabwe's solar market has been built on six recurring failures — slow response, poor product knowledge, weak engineering, no long-term support, poor workmanship, and pricing that hides cost instead of explaining it.

WattWise-Zimbabwe exists specifically to close those gaps. People who paid heavy sums to "installers" and got systems that delivered headaches and safety risks are the reason engineering-first companies need to exist at all. A 400kW system with the wrong battery sizing, the wrong cable calculations, or protection devices left out to save cost isn't a discount — it's a liability with a delayed invoice.

And why solar when you already pay ZESA? Because paying ZESA has never meant having power. Load shedding doesn't check your bill history before it cuts you off. A properly engineered solar and storage system doesn't replace your ZESA payment with a hope — it replaces unpredictability with an asset you own, sized and calculated for your actual load, verified against real datasheets, tested before a single circuit goes live.

We don't compete with installers who "just give prices." We compete with the outcome six months later, when the cheap system fails and the engineered one is still running. Every WattWise-Zimbabwe project begins with a paid, non-negotiable Pre-Engineering Retainer, formalized under policy WWZ-POL-2026-001 — because a 400kW quote without an engineering process behind it isn't a quote. It's a guess with a decimal point.

Ask what's behind the number before you compare it to anyone else's.

Zimbabwe Has 17 Registered Universities. Most Spend $30,000–$60,000 Per Month on Generator Fuel. Solar Eliminates This at a 2.5–4 Year Payback.

Zimbabwe's tertiary education sector — UZ, NUST, MSU, CUT, GZU, Solusi and 12 additional accredited institutions — collectively serves over 100,000 students.

Power requirements are substantial:
computer labs with 40–80 PCs draw 8–16kW per lab;
engineering research equipment 1–10kW each;
server rooms 5–20kW continuous;
student residence blocks 2–5kW per floor;
libraries and lecture theatres.

Generator fuel costs for a medium-sized university: $25,000–$60,000 per month during full academic session, representing 8–15% of total operating budget.

WattWise-Zimbabwe has conducted preliminary assessments for two Zimbabwean university campuses identifying solar installation potential of 500kW–2MW per campus — sufficient to eliminate generator dependency and reduce grid consumption by 60–80%.

Return on investment at this scale: 2.5–4 years, with remaining asset life of 21–22+ years of free generation. The institution training Zimbabwe's engineers is precisely the institution that should not need persuading to adopt the most cost-effective engineering solution available.

“Zimbabwe's universities are spending $420,000+ per year on generator fuel that solar eliminates. WattWise-Zimbabwe is ready to engineer that change at institutional scale.”

WattWise-Zimbabwe offers large-scale institutional solar assessments for universities, polytechnics and training colleges. Contact us for a campus energy analysis.

Kariba North, June-July 2026. Another hybrid power system commissioned by WattWise-Zimbabwe — and another example of why engineering discipline, not just equipment, is what determines whether a system survives its first hard season.

For client W. Maduviko: a 63.9 kWp ground-mounted solar PV array, a 100 kWh Battery Energy Storage System, a 50 kW Deye Hybrid Inverter, and a 60 kVA diesel generator — all unified under a single Energy Management System with fully automated generator control and battery charging/discharging logic. No manual switching. No guesswork about which source is carrying the load at any given moment.

This is what full-scope delivery looks like on site:

Electrical installation supervision and coordination of all site activities. PV array installation with complete DC/AC cabling, terminations, and equipment integration. Grounding and earthing system installation, continuity tested and verified to IEC/SANS standards — not assumed, tested. I-V curve testing across every string to catch installation defects before energization, not after a client discovers them the hard way. Insulation resistance and megger testing on every circuit. Advanced EMS/BMS configuration governing battery strategy and automatic diesel changeover. Full functional testing and synchronization before a single load was ever handed over.

Red soil, remote logistics, zero tolerance for shortcuts — this is the terrain WattWise-Zimbabwe engineers for, not around.

Every system we commission goes through a paid, non-negotiable pre-engineering site assessment before a single quotation is written. We don't estimate off a phone call. We don't sell equipment we haven't verified against datasheets. That discipline is the difference between a system that survives Zimbabwe's grid and one that fails within a year — and it's why, ZIMDEF, Bemba Farm, and now Kariba North all carry the same standard.

If your operation is still running on guesswork backup power, that's a liability you're choosing to keep.

Blueberry Farmers: Your Crop Was Built to Grow in Shade.
Your Field Wasn't Designed That Way, Yet.

Blueberries evolved as an understory plant, growing naturally beneath forest canopy. Full, unshaded sun during Zimbabwe's hottest growing months pushes them past their comfort zone, causing heat stress, moisture loss and lower fruit set.

Research from Wageningen University found blueberry yield under high radiation intensity can improve with up to 50 percent shade cover. Zimbabwe's blueberry-growing regions sit exactly in that high-radiation category, which means the sun stressing your crop right now is the same sun an elevated solar array could put to better use.

An agrivoltaic system means solar panels mounted high enough for normal farm work to continue underneath, moderating heat and light on the crop below while generating electricity above it. Two revenue streams from one hectare: more stable fruit yield, and power you can use on the farm or feed back to the grid for net metering credits.

WattWise-Zimbabwe designs agrivoltaic systems specifically for Zimbabwean growing conditions, correct panel height, proper spacing for light and machinery access, and structures built for our wind and storm loads. We do a full site assessment before any quotation, so what gets built actually fits your farm.

If heat stress has been costing you yield season after season, let's talk before the next planting cycle.

Day 90: WattWise-Zimbabwe Has Published 90 Engineering Posts. Every Single One Supports the Same Conclusion — and We Have Not Finished.

90 days. 90 engineering-grade posts. From the first solar cell at $286 per watt to cold-temperature Voc correction, from Zimbabwe's poultry crisis to carbon credit revenue, from 1kW system load calculations to 10-year performance audits. We have covered the science, the economics, the infrastructure gaps and the engineering standards that separate a correctly-built system from one that fails silently over 5 years.

WattWise-Zimbabwe is not the cheapest solar company in Zimbabwe. We have never claimed to be and we never will. We are the most thorough:
Every installation carries an IEC 62446 commissioning report with eight independent measurements.
Every battery bank is commissioned with cell balance verification. Every string is designed with cold-temperature Voc correction.
Every cable run is specified with UV-stable conduit. Every system is monitored remotely from commissioning day.
Every client receives the engineering documentation their 25-year investment deserves.

Zimbabwe has 3,000+ hours of annual sunshine, more solar resource than Germany, more agricultural land than most of the continent, and 7 million citizens without reliable electricity. The mandate to solve this is not complete. WattWise-Zimbabwe continues. One correctly-engineered system at a time.

“90 posts. 90 engineering facts. Every single one points to the same conclusion: WattWise-Zimbabwe is the engineering firm Zimbabwe's solar future deserves. The 90-day challenge ends. The work does not.”

The Cheap Quote Cost This Business Twice and Nearly Cost Them the Building

A client called us after their solar system, installed by a low-cost provider, started overheating at the cable terminations. What we found told the whole story: undersized cabling, no surge protection on either side of the system, hand-twisted joints instead of crimped terminations, and no earthing test ever performed.

We shut it down after it caused real damage. The client ended up paying for the original cheap installation and a full WattWise-Zimbabwe remediation, more than double what it would have cost to get it right the first time.

A proper solar installation requires:

Cable sizing calculated to actual load current, not guessed

Full DC and AC protection: breakers, fuses, isolators, and surge protection devices

Professionally crimped, tested terminations

Complete earthing and lightning protection

Full commissioning tests before the system is ever switched on

Getting it right the first time is always cheaper than fixing it after it fails. WattWise-Zimbabwe engineers every system to this standard, from a home rooftop to a mining-scale installation.

Get a technical assessment before you commit to an installer, or before your current system becomes a liability.
