RemerladSec SECURING VALUE| ENSURING INTEGRITY

In today’s digital landscape, cyber threats are relentless. They don’t clock off, and neither can our defences. This isn't just about having a firewall; it's about building the resilience of a world-class goalkeeper.

What makes a great keeper? It’s not just the spectacular saves. It’s their strategic mindset:

Anticipation: They read the game, predicting angles and threats before the shot is taken. In cybersecurity, this is proactive threat intelligence and continuous monitoring.

Positioning: They are always organised, ensuring the defence is structured and gaps are minimized. This is our layered security posture—identity management, segmentation, least privilege.

Composure Under Fire: In a barrage of attacks, panic causes errors. Resilience is calm, practised incident response. It’s about having a playbook and drilling it.

Clearing the Danger: A great keeper doesn’t just stop shots; they decisively clear the ball from the area. In our world, this is rapid containment, eradication, and recovery to prevent follow-on attacks.

Command of the Area: They communicate constantly, directing the defence. This is leadership fostering a pervasive culture of security awareness across the entire organisation.

We will concede shots on goal. The objective is to prevent the net from bulging. Build a strategy that assumes breaches, focuses on detection speed, and ensures operational continuity.

Because in this match, the final whistle never blows. Your resilience isn't measured by a clean sheet, but by your ability to keep playing and win, no matter what comes at you.

Our children are digital natives, exploring a borderless world from our homes. But are we equipping them for its hidden pitfalls-cyberbullying, exploitation, misinformation?

The internet is their library, playground, and social square. Yet, we often hand them the keys without a map. This is not just about parental controls; it's about empowering a generation with digital citizenship, critical thinking, and resilience.

I believe our community-tech professionals, educators, parents, and policymakers-can pioneer solutions. How do we tailor online safety education for our context? Can we develop local, relatable content in our languages? What role should schools and community hubs play?

This is a call to action. Share your insights, experiences, and scalable ideas. Let's move beyond worry and build a practical, collaborative framework for a safer digital world.

Tech Has Evolved. Have Our Skills Kept Pace?

Its like migrating to a very cold weather, will you be able to survive in it without adequate and necessary coping up measures, that's a million dollar question.

We are in the era of quantum computing, Al agents, and seamless loT ecosystems. The level of technology transformation is exponential, reshaping reality itself.

Yet, the level of cyber literacy-the critical understanding of digital safety, data sovereignty, and ethical implications -often feels linear. We use breathtakingly complex tools with a startlingly basic understanding of their mechanics and risks.

We hand over biometrics for convenience, deploy Al without auditing its logic, and share our lives on platforms whose business models we don't comprehend. The gap is not just a vulnerability; it's a foundational crack.

True progress is not just about adopting the next tech. It's about cultivating the wisdom to use it safely, ethically, and sustainably. Are we building a future we understand, or just one we inhabit?

Question for my network: In your view, what's the single most critical cyber literacy skill we must prioritize now to safely navigate this transformed world?

A Eulogy for a Pillar of Peace: Archbishop Paul Mwazha’s Legacy of True Security

We do not often use the word "security" when speaking of prophets and apostles. We speak of faith, of miracles, of devotion. Yet, in the passing of Archbishop Paul Mwazha, we must recognize that we have lost one of Zimbabwe's, and Africa's, most formidable architects of a profound and enduring security.

His was not the security of borders or barracks, but the security of the human spirit—the most foundational peace upon which all other stability is built.

Archbishop Mwazha understood that a nation's first line of defense is not its weaponry, but its moral fabric. For decades, he was a relentless builder of this fabric. Through the African Apostolic Church, he forged a community bound by the principles of discipline, integrity, and mutual responsibility. He fought the insidious insecurity of moral decay, instilling in millions a compass that guided them away from chaos and towards community.

His impact created a ripple effect of stability:

· In Zimbabwe: He cultivated generations of citizens who became pillars of their local communities—reliable, hardworking, and peaceful. By championing family values and social cohesion, he directly countered the root causes of social unrest and crime. He built a "army" of peacemakers.
· Across Africa: He stood as a beacon of spiritual sovereignty, demonstrating that faith and identity are the bedrock of a continent's resilience. His life was a testament to the idea that a secure Africa is one confident in its own soul and traditions.
· For the World: In an era of global anxiety, his message of divine order and unwavering faith offered a sanctuary for the soul. He reminded us that the ultimate security for humanity is a shared sense of purpose and a connection to something greater than ourselves.

To honor Archbishop Mwazha is to acknowledge that the most heroic peacekeepers are not only those who quell conflicts, but those who prevent them from ever starting. He was a sentinel at the gate of the human heart, and his work ensured that countless individuals chose peace over conflict, unity over division, and construction over destruction.

His legacy is not just in the churches he built, but in the peaceful, orderly, and purposeful lives of the millions he inspired. That is the most impressive security infrastructure of all.

Rest in Peace, Servant of God. Your mission of true peace is complete.

Together We Can: How Zimbabwean Citizens Hold the Key to Road Safety and National Security

Road safety is not merely a transportation issue—it's a fundamental national security concern that threatens our social fabric, economic stability, and collective wellbeing. The security of any nation begins with the protection of its citizens in their daily lives, including on the roads they travel.

The crisis on Zimbabwe's roads is not merely a government problem or a law enforcement failure—it is a reflection of our societal values. Each time we choose to speed, overtake dangerously, or drive impaired, we contribute to the problem. Similarly, each time we exercise patience, respect traffic rules, and intervene to prevent others from making dangerous choices, we contribute to the solution.

The broken social contract on our roads can be repaired, but only through a collective commitment to re-establishing mutual respect . This requires a fundamental shift from a "me-first" mentality to a "we-first" approach that recognizes our interconnectedness and shared responsibility for public safety.

As we look toward the future, let us remember that national security begins with individual security—and there is nothing more fundamental than the right to travel safely in our communities. Let us commit to being part of the solution through our daily choices, our community engagement, and our advocacy for better policies and infrastructure.

Together, we can transform Zimbabwe's roads from corridors of fear into pathways of safety, connectivity, and national prosperity. The journey begins with each one of us—today.

This article is dedicated to the thousands of Zimbabweans who have lost their lives or loved ones in preventable road accidents. May their stories inspire us to build a safer future for all.

Special acknowledgment to organizations like Road Safe Zimbabwe Trust, Automobile Association of Zimbabwe, and iRAP who are working tirelessly to make our roads safer .

Call to Action:

1. Pledge to be a safer driver and road user
2. Educate your family, friends, and community about road safety
3. Report dangerous road conditions and reckless driving to authorities
4. Advocate for better road infrastructure and enforcement in your community
5. Support organizations working to make Zimbabwe's roads safer

Beyond an Eyesore: Litter as a Silent National Security Vulnerability

We often discuss national security in terms of cyber threats, geopolitical tensions, and critical infrastructure. Yet, a pervasive and often dismissed vulnerability lies in plain sight: the litter degrading our public spaces.

The presence of persistent litter is not just a symptom of social disorder; it is an indicator of systemic neglect that can be exploited by malign actors. It signals a breakdown in communal care and oversight, creating physical and psychological openings for greater threats.

The Threat Landscape Amplified by Neglect:

1. Critical Infrastructure Vulnerability: Accumulated debris near bridges, rail lines, energy substations, and communication hubs creates tangible fire hazards and can obscure visibility, providing cover for unauthorized access or sabotage. What may appear as simple negligence can facilitate a complex attack.
2. Signaling and Intelligence: A landscape littered with waste, especially near sensitive facilities, suggests a lack of vigilance. For those conducting surveillance, it indicates a permissive environment where unusual activity—such as dumping hazardous materials or placing illicit devices—may go unnoticed and unreported.
3. Erosion of Civic Cohesion: National security is ultimately rooted in a society’s resilience and collective sense of responsibility. When we accept litter in our environment, we normalize a disregard for the common good. This erosion of civic duty weakens the social fabric, making us less united and less likely to act against more significant threats.

This is not an issue solely for government agencies to solve. It is a fundamental risk management imperative for every citizen.

We must shift our mindset from "someone else's problem" to "my responsibility." Effective risk management is proactive, not reactive. It involves identifying vulnerabilities at the micro-level and taking action to mitigate them.

A Call for Citizen-Led Risk Mitigation:
· Be a Sensor: Your awareness is a critical layer of defense. When you are outdoors, actively observe your surroundings. Note anything that seems out of place. Your vigilance adds to our collective security.
· Lead by Example: The simple act of properly disposing of your own waste, or even picking up a piece of litter, has a ripple effect. It reinforces a norm of care and signals that we are a society that pays attention to details.
· Advocate for Resilience: Support and initiate local clean-up efforts.

A secure nation is built on a foundation of pride, order, and mutual responsibility. By managing the seemingly small risk of litter, we actively cultivate a culture of resilience that deters far greater threats. The greatest defense is a community that cares.

🚀 Protect Your Business from Fraud! Essential Tips for Small-Scale Entrepreneurs in Zimbabwe

Running a small business in Zimbabwe comes with many challenges, and fraud is one of the biggest threats to your hard-earned success. Whether it’s dishonest employees, fake suppliers, or payment scams, fraud can cripple your business if you’re not careful.

Here are practical tips to help you safeguard your business:

1. Keep Detailed Records 📝
Maintain clear records of all transactions (sales, expenses, inventory).

Use digital tools like QuickBooks, Wave, or even Excel to track finances.

Regularly review bank statements and receipts to spot irregularities.

2. Separate Personal & Business Finances 💳
Open a dedicated business bank account to avoid mixing funds.

This makes it easier to track cash flow and detect fraud.

3. Verify Suppliers & Customers 🔍
Before dealing with new suppliers or clients, do background checks.

Ask for references, check online reviews, and avoid upfront payments for unverified deals.

4. Use Secure Payment Methods 💰
Avoid cash transactions where possible—use mobile money (Ecocash, OneMoney) or bank transfers for traceability.

Be wary of fake payment notifications—always confirm receipts before releasing goods/services.

5. Monitor Inventory & Stock 📦
Conduct regular stock takes to detect theft or mismanagement.

Implement a system where two people verify high-value transactions (dual control).

6. Limit Access to Cash & Sensitive Data 🔐
Only trusted employees should handle cash or financial records.

Use passwords/PINs for mobile money accounts and change them periodically.

7. Educate Yourself & Your Team 🎓
Train employees on fraud risks and how to spot red flags.

Encourage a culture of transparency and accountability.

8. Get Insured (If Possible) 🛡️
Consider business insurance to cover losses from fraud or theft.

9. Trust Your Instincts ❗
If a deal seems too good to be true, it probably is! Always verify before committing.

💡 Final Thought: Fraud can happen to anyone, but with vigilance and smart practices, you can protect your business and keep growing!
